Exempting Crown Land from certain Provisions of the Mining Act, 1926.
GALWAY, Governor-General.
WHEREAS by section twenty of the Mining Act, 1926, it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time, by notice in the Gazette, exempt any Crown lands from mining, or from any specified mining purpose, or from that Act, or any specified provisions of that Act, and that the lands to which any such notice relates shall be specified therein by words of particular description:
And whereas it is desirable that the Crown land specified in the Schedule hereto shall be exempted from the provisions of section sixty-six (f) of the Mining Act, 1926, and its amendments, and regulations one hundred and five and one hundred and six of the regulations thereunder:
Now, therefore, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by section twenty of the Mining Act, 1926, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby exempt the land particularly described in the Schedule hereto from the provisions of section sixty-six (f) of the Mining Act, 1926, and regulations one hundred and five and one hundred and six of the regulations thereunder, and do also hereby declare that such exemption shall take effect from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, Inangahua County, containing 792 acres, more or less, being Section 166, Block II, Waitahu Survey District, and parts of Provisional State Forests Nos. 92 and 132, situated in Block XIV, Reefton Survey District, and Block II, Waitahu Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north-west by Section 8, Block XIV, Reefton Survey District, and another part of Provisional State Forest No. 132 aforesaid, by a line bearing 245° 49′ 1769·9 links; towards the north-east by another part of Provisional State Forest No. 132 by lines bearing 154° 45′ 507 links, 92° 45′ 578 links, 161° 30′ 668 links, 147° 1487 links, 72° 390 links, 112° 656 links, and 93° 20′ 370 links, to the western boundary of Section 10, Block II aforesaid; by Section 10 aforesaid to Trig. L, and by another part of Provisional State Forest No. 92 aforesaid, by lines bearing 60° 5′ 219 links, 91° 15′ 701 links, 136° 281 links, 71° 280 links, 64° 15′ 157 links, 81° 15′ 363 links, 48° 199 links, 125° 40′ 246 links, 91° 30′ 225 links, and 140° 40′ 1850 links to the edge of the bush and by the edge of the bush for approximately 37 chains; towards the south-east by another part of Provisional State Forest 92 aforesaid, by lines bearing 247° 15′ 177 links, 205° 30′ 379 links, 281° 383 links, 273° 225 links, 284° 15′ 132 links, 242° 15′ 1543 links, and 245° 45′ 402 links, and by Road License No. 8551; and towards the south-west by the Reefton–Big River Road; save and excepting the intersecting public road. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked N. 6/8, deposited in the Head Office of the Mines Department at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section three hundred and fifty-nine of the Land Act, 1924, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby temporarily reserve the lands in the North Auckland, Auckland, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Westland, and Southland Land Districts described in the Schedule hereunder written for the purposes specified in the said Schedule.
