Taking of Fish for Sale.

I HEREBY give notice that an application has been
received from A. H. McManaway for a license to take
fish for sale at Picton by means of the 38 ft. 40 h.p. launch
“Southern Star,” using trawl-nets.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected by
the decision of the Bureau in respect of this application, and
who wishes to make representations accordingly, must
furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the
undersigned not later than the 28th February, 1939.

Retail Sale of Motor-spirit.

I HEREBY give notice that applications have been
received from—
(1) W. Davies for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit at a
proposed service station in proximity to the newly
constructed bridge at Haywards.
(2) C. A. S. Coldwell for a license to sell (retail) motor-
spirit at his store at the corner of Smith Street and
Garrington Road, Vogeltown, New Plymouth.
(3) Mangatoki Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd., for a license to
sell (retail) motor-spirit at the company’s premises
in Mangatoki.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected
by the decisions of the Bureau in respect of these applications
and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must
furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the
undersigned not later than the 28th February, 1939. All
representations must set out clearly the grounds for same
and include a statement showing the gallonage throughput
of petrol sold and the nature of the business conducted by the
person making the representations.

Pharmacy Industry.

I HEREBY give notice that an application has been received
from Boots The Chemists (New Zealand), Ltd., for
permission to transfer the pharmacy situated at 178 Princes
Street, to a new position at 192 Princes Street, Dunedin.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected
by the decision of the Bureau in respect of this application,
and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must
furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the
undersigned not later than the 28th February, 1939. All
representations must set out clearly the gounds for same and
should include financial statements.

Including Additional Land in the Waiapu Development Scheme.

PURSUANT to section 4 of the Native Land Amend-
ment Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby
declares the Native land described in the Schedule hereto
to be subject to Part I of the said Act and to be included
in the Waiapu Development Scheme.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of land in the Tairawhiti Native Land
Court District, situate in Block XVI, East Cape Survey
District, and known as the Marangairoa 1c 6m 1 Block,
containing approximately 1,070 acres 3 roods 39 perches.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Lands in North Auckland Land District for Selection on
Optional Tenures.

North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 14th February, 1939.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections
are open for selection on optional tenures under the
Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland,
up to 4 p.m. on Monday, 13th March, 1939.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland,
on Wednesday, 15th March, 1939, at 10.30 o’clock a.m.,
but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined
by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown
Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when
examined documentary evidence of their financial position,
such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from
managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms,
or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial
assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should
state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply
guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of
the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant
is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a
deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period
rent, deposit in reduction of weighting for improvements, and
lease and mortgage fees.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LANDS.

Waitemata County.—Paremoremo Parish.

Lots 5 and 6 of Section 79: Area, 38 acres 1 rood 33 perches.
Capital value, £400.* Deposit on deferred payments, £20.
Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £12 7s. Renew-
able lease: Half-yearly rent, £8.

  • Improvements to the value of £100 included in the
    capital value comprise 6 acres pasture and 2½ acres orchard.
    Weighted with £465 for improvements, comprising dwelling,
    dairy-shed and yards, workshop, well, 121 chains fencing,
    18 chains shelter belts, 33 acres cleared and 24 acres grassed.
    This sum is payable in cash, or after payment of a deposit of
    £95 the balance may be secured by (1) a loading of £250
    payable over a term of twenty years by half-yearly instal-
    ments of principal and interest amounting to £10 0s. 8d.
    and (2) a first mortgage to the State Advances Corporation
    of New Zealand for the sum of £120 with quarterly payments
    of £2 15s. 11d. Cost of preparation and registration of
    mortgage £2 9s. payable by selector.
    This property is situated on the main Greenhithe Road
    adjoining Greenhithe School and half a mile from Greenhithe
    Post-office. Access is from Birkenhead which is eight miles
    and a half distant by metalled road. The area comprises
    easy undulating land, 2½ acres in good pasture, 28 acres in
    poor pasture (infested with gorse and blackberry), 2½ acres
    orchard, 5¼ acres reverted to scrub. Soil is clay of a fair
    quality resting on clay formation. Climate is good and there
    is no danger of flooding. Water-supply is inefficient at
    present but could be made satisfactory by boring. The
    property is suitable for mixed farming in conjunction with
    growing of seasonal crops.

Mangonui County.—Hohoura East Survey District.

SECTION 11, Block V: Area, 23 acres 1 rood 14 perches.
Capital value, £35. Deposit on deferred payments, £5.
Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, 19s. 6d.
Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, 14s.
Weighted with £27 for improvements, comprising 12 acres
pasture, 30 chains fencing, and galvanized-iron shack. This
sum is payable in cash, or after payment of a deposit of £7
the balance will be payable over a term of two years by
half-yearly payments of £5, plus interest at 5 per cent.
This section is situated on the Kimberly-Ngataki Road
one and a half miles from Ngataki by formed sandy road.
Soil is sandy peat loam resting on sandstone formation.
Property comprises approximately 20 acres drained swamp
of reasonably good quality, 3 acres poor sandy ridges. An
area of 12 acres has been cleared and grassed, the balance
being in short scrub. Watered by springs. Suitable for
farming in conjunction with other land in the vicinity.
