PURSUANT to the provisions of the Marriage Act, 1908, the following names of officiating ministers within the meaning of the said Act are published for general information:—

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures.
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 10th July, 1939.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property is open for selection on optional tenures under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 14th August, 1939.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 16th August, 1939, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and deposit on account of weighting for improvements.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Mangonui County.—Takahue Survey District.
SECTIONS 21A, 21B, 23, 24, 25, and part Sections 21, 22, and 35, Block VI.: Area, 239 acres 0 roods 34 perches. Capital value, £360. Deposit on deferred payments, £15. Half-yearly instalments on deferred payments, £11 4s. 3d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £7 4s.
Weighted with £710* for improvements, comprising 145 acres felled and burned, 145 acres surface sown, 20 acres cleared and stumped, 421 chains fencing, dwelling, cow-byre, and shed. This sum is payable in cash, or after payment of a deposit of £50, the balance may be paid over a term of twenty-five years and a half by half-yearly instalments of principal and interest combined amounting to £23 2s.
*NOTE.—This sum includes £63 being the valuation of 35½ chains of fencing and one gate which is being erected by the Mangonui County Council.
This property is situated on Fryer’s Road, four miles and and a half from Kaitaia Post-office and School, and ten miles from Kaitaia Dairy Factory; the nearest port is at Awanui which is ten miles distant. Access is from Kaitaia by metal road. Soil is poor to fair clay resting on sandstone formation; watered by a creek and streams. Property comprises approximately 30 acres flat in poor grass; 65 acres hill in fair pasture; 50 acres in fern and rough feed; 10 acres in scattered bush, and approximately 85 acres in fern and tea-tree. It is subdivided into eleven paddocks and is suitable for dairying and grazing. There is a little gorse and blackberry in evidence.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 24th July, 1939.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday, 26th July, 1939, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Waimarino County.—Manganui Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for two years.)
SECTIONS 3 and 9, Block IX: Area, 979 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £250; half-yearly rent, £5.
Weighted with £336 (payable in cash), for improvements, comprising dwelling of ten rooms, dwelling of four rooms, wool-shed, cow-byre, shed, yards and dip, fencing, roads and tracks, planations, felling, burning, and sowing.
This property is situated on the Raetihi–Ohura Road, fourteen miles from the Raetihi Post-office, Railway-station, Dairy Factory, and Saleyards, and five miles from Ruatiti School, access being by metalled road from Raetihi. The soil is of poor to medium quality resting on sandstone, papa, and rock formation, and the land is watered by streams and springs. At present 150 acres are in good to medium pasture, 120 acres in poor pasture, 509 acres have reverted to fern and scrub, and 200 acres are in the natural state. The property is free from rabbits, but has some foxglove and ragwort.
The western portion of Section 3 is steep and broken, the balance consisting of easy hills with some good flats and terraces. This section is subdivided into six paddocks and is suitable for grazing and a small dairy herd.
Section 9 is mostly medium to steep broken country with some easy to flat areas along the Ohura Road and on the southern end on Makino Road. The Ruatiti and Makino Streams form gorges, which make it difficult to handle stock. This section is subdivided into four paddocks and is suitable for grazing only.
A good energetic worker could make these sections produce quite satisfactory returns.
