RESULT OF ELECTIONS OF MEMBERS.

NOTICE is hereby given pursuant to regulations for
the conduct of elections of members of the Council
of Canterbury University College that at the elections held
on the 5th June, 1939, the following were the persons
elected and the respective classes of electors by whom they
were elected :-

Terence Henderson McCombs Elected by Members of
Parliament.

Ross Hepburn and (Mrs)
Stephanie Grace Young .. Elected by members of the
Canterbury District Court
of Convocation.

John Gunn Polson Elected by the school-teachers
of the Canterbury Uni-
versity District.

William Alexander Banks .. Elected by the school
committees of the Canter-
bury University District.

LIMITED, a company incorporated in England.

NOTICE is hereby given that Henry A. Lane and
Company, Limited, of Nos. 37/45 Tooley Street,
London, a company incorporated in England and until
lately having a branch office in Hawera, has ceased to have a
place of business in New Zealand.

JUDEA DRAINAGE BOARD.

RESOLUTION MAKING AND LEVYING SPECIAL RATE.

THAT in pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested
in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1926, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling,
the Judea Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows :-

"That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of
the half-yearly instalments of principal and interest in respect
of the Judea Drainage Board Loan £1,500/1931 authorized
to be raised by the Judea Drainage Board under the above-
mentioned Act for the purpose of widening, deepening, and
straightening drains in the Board's area and acquiring the
necessary plant and material and doing all to complete the
scheme, the said Board hereby makes and levies a special
rate on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved
value) of all rateable property in the Board's area according
to the existing classification as follows :-

"That such special rate shall be an annually recurring
rate during the currency of such loan and be payable annually
on the first day of April in each and every year during the
currency of such loan, being a period of ten years (10) or until
the loan is fully paid off."

We hereby certify that the above is a true copy of and a
correct extract from the minutes of proceedings of the Judea
Drainage Board at the meeting held on Monday, 29th May,
1939.

The common seal of the Judea Drainage Board was hereto
affixed at the office of and pursuant to a resolution of the
trustees in the presence of—

WHAKATANE COUNTY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Counties Act, 1920, and of the
Public Works Act, 1928.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Whakatane County
Council proposes under the provisions of the above-
mentioned Acts to execute a certain public work—namely,
the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such
public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are
required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given
that a plan of the lands so required to be taken is deposited
in the public office of the said Whakatane County Council
situated at The Strand, Whakatane, and is open for inspection
(without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours.

All persons affected by the execution of the said public
work or by the taking of such lands, who have any well-
grounded objections to the execution of the said public
work or to the taking of the said lands, must state their
objections in writing, and send the same, within forty (40)
days from the first publication of this notice, to the Clerk
of the said Council at the said office.

SCHEDULE.
Approximate area of each of the parcels of land required
to be taken :-
