PRIVATE BILL.

A Private Bill intituled “The Tauranga Licensing Committee Empowering Act, 1939.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the Arawa Land Company, Limited, intends to present a petition to the General Assembly of New Zealand at the ensuing session for leave to introduce a Private Bill, the short title of which is as above. The objects of the proposed Bill are:—

(a) To empower the Tauranga Licensing Committee to grant an accommodation or publican’s license within the Borough of Matamata.

(b) To make provision for the granting of such license by such committee at any annual or quarterly meeting but subject to the provisions of the Licensing Act, 1908, save as modified thereby.

Printed copies of the proposed Bill will be deposited in the Private Bill Office not later than fourteen days after the commencement of the session.

CHANGE OF SURNAME.

WE, FREDERICK KILDUFF, of the City of Wellington, Packer, and MARJORIE LILIAN KILDUFF, his Wife, heretofore called and known by the name of Cohr, hereby give notice that we have renounced and abandoned the use of our said surname Cohr and assumed in lieu thereof the surname Kilduff; and further, that such change of name is evidenced by a deed-poll bearing date the 26th day of April, 1939, duly executed by us and attested and enrolled in the Supreme Court Office at Wellington on the 3rd day of May, 1939, and that we therefore require all persons whomsoever henceforth to designate, describe, and address us as Frederick Kilduff and Marjorie Lilian Kilduff, respectively.

CHANGE OF NAME.

I, JOHN SIDNEY HAMILTON-GIBBS, formerly of Nelson, in the Dominion of New Zealand, at present serving as a Captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps at Delhi in British India, heretofore called and known by the names Sidney Hamilton Gibbs, hereby give public notice that on the 21st day of March, 1939, I formally assumed and adopted and determined thenceforth on all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the proper names John Sidney and the surnames Hamilton-Gibbs instead of the proper names Sidney Hamilton and the surname Gibbs; and I further give notice that by a deed-poll dated the 21st day of March, 1939, duly executed and attested and intended to be enrolled in the Supreme Court of New Zealand, Nelson District, Nelson Registry, I formally assumed and adopted and determined thenceforth on all occasions to use and subscribe the proper names John Sidney and the surnames Hamilton-Gibbs instead of the proper names Sidney Hamilton and the surname Gibbs and so as to be at all times thereafter called, known, and described by the names John Sidney Hamilton-Gibbs exclusively.

EDUCATION BOARD OF THE DISTRICT OF NELSON.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1928.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed under the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, and its amendments, to execute a certain public work—namely, to acquire an additional school-site and playgrounds in the City of Nelson—and for the purpose of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited at the offices of the Education Board of the District of Nelson and is there open for inspection, and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land are required, if they have any well-grounded objection to the execution of the said public work, or to the taking of the said land,

to set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Education Board of the District of Nelson at its address, being Shelbourne Street in the City of Nelson.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land situated in the City of Nelson containing two acres two roods four decimal three perches, more or less, which said piece of land comprises part of the section marked 499 and the whole of the sections marked 503 and 505, delineated in the public map of the said city deposited in the office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Nelson, and being all the land in certificato of title, Vol. 5, folio 82, Nelson Registry.

IN VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1933, and in the matter of A. Swanston, Limited (in Liquidation).

NOTICE is hereby given that the above-named company by resolution passed on the 28th day of April, 1939, went into voluntary liquidation and appointed the undersigned as liquidator.

Notice to Creditors to Prove.

The liquidator of A. Swanston, Limited, which is being wound up voluntarily hereby fixes the 26th day of May, 1939, as the last day on or before which the creditors of the company are to prove their debts or claims and to establish any title they may have to priority under section 258 of the Act or to be excluded from the benefit of any distribution made before such debts are proved, or, as the case may be, from objecting to such distribution.

THAMES COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1928, the Thames County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of two thousand four hundred pounds (£2,400) authorized to be raised by Thames County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of widening, deepening, constructing, and fencing drains in the Matatoki Subdivision of the Thames Drainage District and the erection of bridges and the taking of land necessary for such works, the said Thames County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one penny (1d.) in the pound (£) upon the rateable value of all rateable property (on the basis of the unimproved value) within the Matatoki Subdivision of the Thames Drainage District Special-rating Area bounded as follows: Starting at the intersection of the Thames to Paeroa State Highway with the Puriri Stream; thence north-westerly along the south-western side generally of the said highway to its intersection with the Matatoki Road; thence in a westerly direction down the centre of the Matatoki Road until it reaches the Thames to Paeroa Railway; thence along the said railway in a northerly direction until its intersection with the Kiri Kiri Stream; thence along the left bank of the Kiri Kiri Stream to the Waihou River; and thence along the right bank of the Waihou River to the Puriri Stream; thence by the centre-line of the Puriri Stream to the point of commencement; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of said loan and be payable half-yearly on the thirtieth day of September and the thirty-first day of March in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten (10) years or until the loan is fully paid off.”
