HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve, under section 6 (a), Defence Act, 1909, that the existing designations of the Northern, Central, and Southern Depots of the New Zealand Corps of Signals be abolished, and that the units be redesignated as under:—

NEW ZEALAND CORPS OF SIGNALS.

Northern District Signal Company, with headquarters at Auckland.

Central District Signal Company, with headquarters at Wellington.

Southern District Signal Company, with headquarters at Christchurch.

Land Vested in the Takapuna Borough Council declared to be a Public Reserve.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following resolution was passed by the Takapuna Borough Council, pursuant to section 5 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, on the 17th day of August, 1938, due notice of intention to pass such resolution having been given in terms of the said section and no objection thereto received:—

“ That, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 5 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, the Takapuna Borough Council resolves that the piece of land vested in it, being more particularly described as all that piece of land containing thirty-two perches, more or less, being part Lot No. 46 on a plan deposited in the Land Registry Office at Auckland under number 12137, and being portion of Allotment No. 84 of the Parish of Takapuna, and the whole of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 416, folio 256, Auckland Registry, situated in Craig Road in the said borough, be and the same is hereby declared to be a public reserve within the meaning of the said Act.”

THE following special order made by the Waitaki County Council on the 28th day of April, 1939, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT in exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Waitaki County Council resolves and declares by way of special order that the plants mentioned in the Schedule hereto (being plants mentioned in the Second Schedule to the said Act) are noxious weeds within the County of Waitaki.

Amendment to Arc of Visibility.

Position: Lat., 40° 33′ S.; long., 173° 01′ E. (approx.).

Details: As a result of sand drift the light is now visible over an additional arc between the approximate bearings 107° to 110°.

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—BLUFF HARBOUR.

  1. Outward Leading Lights established.

  2. Alteration in Light.

  3. Buoy withdrawn.

  4. Position: Lat., 46° 37′ S.; long., 168° 20′ E. (approx.).

Front beacon: On line of No. 3 beacons (310°) 596 yards from Channel Rock beacon.

Rear beacon: At intersection of Nos. 1 and 3 leading lines.

Abridged Description: Front beacon—Fl. ev. sec.

Rear beacon—Fl. ev. 2 sec.

Details: The beacons consist of a 4 pile (front) and a 6 pile (rear) dolphin painted red and surmounted by small white structures carrying the lights at elevations of 11 and 18 ft. respectively. The lights are visible 4 miles.

NOTE.—The rear beacon is not yet complete. No further notice will be given.

  1. Position: Channel Rocks beacon.

Alteration: The colour of the light has been altered to red.

  1. Position: North-western end of Davey Bank.

Details: The black and white chequered buoy in this position has been permanently withdrawn.
