N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend J. Bailey, Chaplain, 3rd Class (Methodist), is transferred from Area 9 to Area 8. Dated 28th April, 1939.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.
The Auckland (East Coast) Mounted Rifles.
Lieutenant G. M. I. Adams resigns his commission on appointment to a commission in the Royal N.Z. Air Force. Dated 14th February, 1939.

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own).
Lieutenant F. C. Cornwall, M.C., is posted to the Retired List with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 2nd May, 1939.
Lieutenant R. N. Howland is retired. Dated 2nd May, 1939.
Lieutenant J. Brooke resigns his commission. Dated 29th April, 1939.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF.
Captain E. L. G. Bown, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Adjutant, Army School of Instruction, Trentham, is seconded to the N.Z. Army Ordnance Corps and appointed Ordnance Officer, Main Ordnance Depot, Trentham. Dated 5th April, 1939.
Captain V. J. Innes, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Adjutant, 1st Composite Battalion and Assistant Area Officer, No. 1 Area, Auckland, dated 22nd February, 1939, and is appointed Adjutant, Army School of Instruction, Trentham, dated 6th April, 1939.
Major E. E. Elphick, M.R.C.V.S., N.Z. Veterinary Corps, is granted an extension of his appointment as Assistant Director of Veterinary Services, Central Military District, to 31st March, 1940.
Major H. E. Suckling, B.D.S., (N.Z.), N.Z. Dental Corps, is appointed Assistant Director of Dental Services, Southern Military District. Dated 1st April, 1939.
Captain R. F. Johnston, N.Z. Dental Corps, is appointed Assistant Director of Dental Services, Northern Military District, and is granted the temporary rank of Major while so employed. Dated 1st April, 1939.
Captain L. P. Davies, O.B.E., N.Z. Dental Corps, is appointed Assistant Director of Dental Services, Central Military District, and is granted the temporary rank of Major while so employed. Dated 1st April, 1939.

THE AUCKLAND (EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain R. R. McGregor is transferred to the New Zealand Scottish Regiment. Dated 13th April, 1939.

THE OTAGO MOUNTED RIFLES.
Major A. D. Reid is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 12. Dated 5th April, 1939.
Major (Quartermaster) W. Connor, E.D., is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 14th April, 1939.

THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).
Major (Quartermaster) L. M. Blyth, M.M., 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class 1 (b), Area 1. Dated 13th April, 1939.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants, 1st Battalion, to be Lieutenants. Dated 20th March, 1939:—

THE WAIKATO REGIMENT.
Lieutenant C. A. Borman, from the Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own), to be Lieutenant and is posted to the Regimental Depot, with seniority from 1st October, 1938, next below Lieutenant E. J. R. Tong. Dated 14th April, 1939.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT (CITY OF WELLINGTON’S OWN).
Lieutenant C. A. Borman, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Waikato Regiment. Dated 14th April, 1939.
2nd Lieutenant A. H. Brooke-Taylor, from the Taranaki Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st Battalion, with seniority from 10th October, 1938, next below 2nd Lieutenant D. W. Sinclair. Dated 20th April, 1939.

THE TARANAKI REGIMENT.
Lieutenant W. E. Alexander, 1st Cadet Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 1st May, 1938.
2nd Lieutenant A. H. Brooke-Taylor, Regimental Depot, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own). Dated 20th April, 1939.
Edward Aitken Webb to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) and is posted to the 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 1st April, 1939.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.
Lieutenant J. L. H. Hewland, from the Southland Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 18th February, 1938, and is posted to the 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 14th April, 1939.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) A. H. Meikleham, 3rd Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.

Major P. Mackenzie, V.D., Regimental Depot, is posted to the Retired List with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 12th April, 1939.

Lieutenant W. R. K. Morrison, seconded 3rd Composite Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 12th April, 1939.
