Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 2nd May, 1939.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Greymouth Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

GREYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Greymouth Borough Civic Square Loan, 1938, £10,000.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Greymouth, taken on Wednesday, the 19th day of April, 1939, for the purpose of obtaining the consent of the ratepayers to the raising of a loan of £10,000 for the purchase of land for a civic square resulted as follows:—

Votes.
The number of votes for the proposal was .. 479
The number of votes against the proposal was .. 488
I therefore declare the proposal was defeated.

Colours prescribed for Motor-vehicle Registration-plates for the Licensing Year 1939–40.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by Regulation 16 of the Motor-vehicle Registration-plate Regulations, 1934, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby declare that for the licensing year commencing on the 1st day of June, 1939, the distinguishing marks for registration-plates shall be embossed and coloured black on a ground-coloured orange No. 57, British Standards.

Approval of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1931.

IN terms of regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1931, the Minister of Transport does hereby approve, until further notice, of the person named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being Testing Officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Tawa Extension No. 18, affecting part of Sections 44 and 46, Porirua Registration District, Block VII, Belmont Survey District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that Stephen Street, Carleton Terrace, and Ongley Terrace shown thereon should be of the width of 66 ft. :

Now, therefore, I, William Lee Martin, for the Minister of Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 17, subsection (1) of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off of Stephen Street, Carleton Terrace, and Ongley Terrace of a width of not less than 50 ft. : Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of New Lynn Extension No. 127, affecting part of Allotment 92, Parish of Waikomiti, Block VII, Titirangi Survey District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that the proposed road shown thereon as Lot 15 should be of the width of 66 ft. :

Now, therefore, I, William Lee Martin, for the Minister of Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 17, subsection (1) of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off of the proposed road of a width of not less than 40 ft. : Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.

AKAROA COUNTY COUNCIL.—SPECIAL ORDER.

“That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon and vested in it by virtue of section 2 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1931, the Akaroa County Council resolves by way of special order that sections one hundred and twenty-one (121) and one hundred and thirty-one (131) of the Counties Act, 1920, shall not apply to the Council and such special order shall take effect on and after the 31st day of March, 1939.”

We hereby certify that the above is a true copy of and a correct extract from the minutes of proceedings of the Akaroa County Council at a special meeting held in the County Chambers, Durauchelles, on Friday, the 27th day of January, 1939.

Notice as to the Making of By-laws under the Agriculture and Pastoral Societies Amendment Act, 1932.—(Notice No. Ag. 3853.)

NOTICE is hereby given in pursuance of the Agriculture and Pastoral Societies Amendment Act, 1933, as amended by section 4 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1936, of the making by the Motueka Agricultural and Pastoral Association (Inc.), on the 31st day of May, 1937, and of the approval by the Governor-General on the 21st day of April, 1939, of by-laws under the above-entitled Act, controlling the admission of persons to any place used or occupied by the said association for any meeting, show, exhibition, competition, or entertainment, held by the said association, which said by-laws came into force on the last-mentioned date. The by-laws made by the Feilding Industrial Agricultural and Pastoral Association on the 25th day of October, 1935, and published in the Gazette on the 21st day of November, 1935, at page 3383, are substantially the same as the by-laws made by the first-mentioned association.
