Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Resignations of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

Wellington, 14th December, 1939.
HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and resignations of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—
COMMANDS.
Lieutenant-Colonel C. J. Pierce, M.C., E.D., The Waikato Mounted Rifles, relinquishes command of the Regiment on being seconded for duty with the Special Force. Dated 27th September, 1939.
Captain (temporary Major) W. J. Collins, M.M., The Waikato Mounted Rifles, is appointed to command the Regiment temporarily. Dated 28th September, 1939.
STAFF.
Captain H. L. de F. Garland, Reserve of Officers, N.Z. Staff Corps, is transferred to the Active List and is attached to Headquarters, Northern Military District, Auckland. Dated 21st September, 1939.
Captain H. L. de F. Garland, N.Z. Staff Corps, ceases to be attached to Headquarters, Northern Military District, No. 4 Area, Hamilton, and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, No. 4 Area. Dated 23rd November, 1939.
Captain J. M. Reidy, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Adjutant, Central Military District Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 14th November, 1939.
Captain H. N. Early, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Instructor, Army School of Instruction, Trentham. Dated 26th September, 1939.
Lieutenant J. K. Collins, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Instructor, Army School of Instruction, Trentham. Dated 26th September, 1939.
Captain E. T. W. Love, The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own), ceases to be attached to Army Headquarters, Wellington, and is posted to the Maori Battalion, Special Force. Dated 24th November, 1939.
Lieutenant J. A. Worsnop, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Adjutant, Northern District Signal Company, and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, No. 1 Area, and Adjutant, 1st Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), Auckland. Dated 26th September, 1939.
N.Z. STAFF CORPS.
Captain (temporary Major) H. G. Wooller relinquishes the temporary rank of Major and is seconded for duty with the Fiji Defence Force. Dated 30th September, 1939.
Captain R. J. D. Davis, Retired List, to be Captain, and is appointed Instructor, Army School of Instruction, Trentham. Dated 13th November, 1939.
The probationary appointment of Captain G. E. Forster lapses. Dated 30th November, 1939.
N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.
Lieutenant G. C. Simmis to be Captain. Dated 16th November, 1939.
David Clive Crozier to be 2nd Lieutenant (temporary Captain) and is appointed M.T. Technical Officer, Burnham Military Camp. Dated 20th November, 1939.
Major T. R. Dawe (late Indian Army) to be Major and is appointed Area Officer, No. 2 Area, and Adjutant, The Auckland (East Coast) Mounted Rifles, Paeroa. Dated 14th November, 1939.
2nd Lieutenant R. H. Quilliam, Retired List, to be Captain, and is appointed assistant to the Director of Mobilization, Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dated 27th November, 1939.
Lieutenant R. M. Doughty (late N.Z. Expeditionary Force) to be Lieutenant and is appointed Officer Commanding Guard, Somes Island. Dated 9th November, 1939.
2nd Lieutenant G. R. Holderness (late Imperial Army) to be 2nd Lieutenant and is appointed Adjutant, 2nd Field Company, Corps of N.Z. Engineers, Wellington. Dated 9th November, 1939.
THE NORTH AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.
Major D. T. Wood is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 1st November, 1939.
REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Lieutenant E. C. R. Anderson, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 18th October, 1939, and is posted to the 16th Light Battery. Dated 24th November, 1939.
THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).
Lieutenant J. R. Davies, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own). Dated 5th December, 1939.
Eric Marsden Culpan to be 2nd Lieutenant (temporary) and is posted to the 3rd Cadet Battalion. Dated 1st October, 1939.
THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT (CITY OF WELLINGTON’S OWN).
Captain A. E. Gorton, M.M., from the Reserve of Officers, to be Captain, with seniority from 1st November, 1939, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 5th December, 1939.
Lieutenant J. R. Davies, from the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), to be Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st Battalion, with seniority from 1st November, 1939, next below Lieutenant W. J. Herlihy. Dated 5th December, 1939.
2nd Lieutenant W. A. Ritchie, 3rd Cadet Battalion, to be Lieutenant. Dated 14th July, 1938.
THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.
Captain K. C. Hockey, from the Reserve of Officers, The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment, to be Captain, with seniority from 1st May, 1938, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 5th December, 1939.
THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.
Lieutenant A. R. Alexander, 1st Battalion, is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 28th November, 1939.
THE NELSON, MARLBOROUGH, AND WEST COAST REGIMENT.
David John Bruce Halley, B.E., A.M.I.C.E., A.M.N.Z.I.E., to be 2nd Lieutenant (temporary) and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 17th November, 1939.
NEW ZEALAND SCOTTISH REGIMENT.
The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants and are posted to the Auckland Company. Dated 20th September, 1939:—

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.
Major A. A. Tennent, M.B., seconded for duty with the Special Force, is appointed Senior Medical Officer, Waiouru Military Camp, while being temporarily employed at that Camp. Dated 25th November, 1939.
Major P. C. Davie, M.B., F.R.C.S., Edin., is attached to the 1st Battalion, The Taranaki Regiment. Dated 27th September, 1939.
N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend Maru George Check to be Chaplain, 4th Class (Congregational), Area 10. Dated 25th November, 1939.
