Notice of Intention to take Land in Block II, Whakatane Survey District, for a State Highway Depot.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a depot—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Whakatane and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 6 acres 1 rood 32 perches.

Being part Allotment 235A, Waimana Parish.

Situated in Block II, Whakatane Survey District (Auckland R.D.). (S.O. 30524.)

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 105811, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

Declaring Areas to be Closely Populated Localities for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3.

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport does hereby declare the areas described in the Schedule hereto to be closely populated localities for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein, shall be subject to the maximum speed-limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE.

SITUATED within Manukau County—

All that area adjacent to Papakura consisting of those portions of roads hereinafter described:—

(i) McLennans Road commencing at a point 3 chains measured along the said road in a north-easterly direction from its junction with the Great South Road, proceeding thence in a north-easterly direction, and terminating at the junction of the said road with Grove Road, a distance of approximately one mile.

(ii) Valley Road commencing at the junction of the said road with McLennans Road, proceeding thence in a south-easterly direction, and terminating at the northern boundary of Papakura Borough, as now constituted, a distance of approximately 36 chains.

(iii) Grove Road commencing at the junction of the said road with McLennans Road, proceeding thence in a south-easterly direction, and terminating at the northern boundary of Papakura Borough, as now constituted, a distance of approximately 47 chains.

Excluding Streets and Roads from Limitation as to Speed imposed by the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3.

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Minister of Transport does hereby revoke that portion of the Warrant dated the 21st day of December, 1936, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 92 of the 22nd day of December, 1936, at page 2511, insofar as it applies to the street described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

SITUATED within Papakura Borough—

Papakura-Clevedon Main Highway No. 83 (all that portion commencing at the junction of the said main highway with Marne Road and terminating at a point 2 chains measured along the said main highway in a north-easterly direction from its junction with Grove Road, a distance of approximately 36 chains).

Hauraki Plains Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying Rates.

I, FRANK LANGSTONE, Minister of Lands, in the exercise of powers conferred upon me by the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all lands within the district constituted under the said Act the general rates to meet maintenance costs for the period 1st April, 1939, to 31st March, 1940, as described in the Schedule hereto.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 18th December, 1939.

The rate-book of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer's Office, Room 45, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Land Drainage Engineer, at Kerepehi, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.

SCHEDULE.

CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the appraiser appointed under the said Act, fourpence (4d.) in the pound.

CLASS B.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, twopence and twenty-nine one-hundredths of a penny (2·29d.) in the pound.

CLASS C.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, fifty-seven one-hundredths of a penny (·57d.) in the pound.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of Less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Meadowbank Extension No. 8, affecting Lot 19 on D.P. 3835, being portion of Section 10, Block I, Oamaru Survey District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that the proposed road shown thereon should be of the width of 66 ft.:

Now, therefore, I, Frank Langstone, Minister of Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 17, subsection (1) of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off of the proposed road of a width of not less than 75 links: Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.
