  1. Local Rates and Regulations.

Paragraph 5: By omitting Subparagraph (b).

Paragraph 8: By omitting from the schedule of rates after the words “New-Zealand-grown fresh fruit” the words “(Regulation 56).”

  1. Classification of Goods, Live-stock, &c.

By omitting the following:—

Cement, not otherwise specified. Minimum rate as for Class E plus 50% C less 50%

Chairs, push, folding, packed in cases, crates, matting, or in heavy brown paper and covered with hessian .. C plus 50%

Empty tins, cases, and cartons, for conveyance of honey (not “returned empties”), not otherwise specified C plus 50%

Go-carts, packed in cases, crates, matting, or in heavy brown paper and covered with hessian .. C plus 50%

Oil, shale or lubricating, direct from factory. Minimum quantity, 4 tons .. D less 25%

Perambulators, packed in cases, crates, matting, or in heavy brown paper and covered with hessian. If unpacked, Class C, double rate .. C plus 50%

Push-chairs, folding, packed in cases, crates, matting, or in heavy brown paper and covered with hessian .. C plus 50%

Timber, tawa, split in short pieces not exceeding 6 ft. in length, consigned to factories to be used exclusively for the manufacture of skewers .. Q

By adding the following:—

Cement not otherwise specified. Minimum rate for distances up to 45 miles, Class E, plus 50% .. C less 50%

Chairs, push, folding, packed in cases, crates, matting, or in heavy packing paper .. C

Concrete and “Terazzo” articles as under:—

Cattle-stops .. N

Crockery, broken .. E plus 50%

Electric-light bulbs .. C plus 50%

Empty boxes or cartons, cardboard or strawboard, collapsed or nested, packed in cases or crates or securely packed in bundles .. C

Empty tins, consigned to cheese-factories, not “returned empties,” but when full to be forwarded by rail, packed .. D

Go-carts, packed in cases, crates, matting, or in heavy packing paper .. C

Perambulators, packed in cases, crates, matting, or in heavy packing paper. If unpacked, Class C, double rate .. C

  1. Computation of Charges.

Paragraph 3:—

By omitting subparagraph (b) and substituting the following:—

(b) Where goods are chargeable at a local rate which exceeds the classified rate, or, on actual cubic measurement at a local rate, the prescribed reduction shall apply, provided that in the case of Class D goods, the charge so based shall not be greater than the charge based on the classified rate less the appropriate reduction.

By adding the following new paragraphs:—

  1. The classified rates for the conveyance of the classes of goods specified in paragraph 16 of this regulation, as the said rates are set forth in Regulation 69, shall be reduced by twelve and one-half per centum in each case.

  2. Where provision is made in the Goods—Local Rates Scale of Charges for the conveyance of any of the classes of goods mentioned in paragraph 16 of this regulation between specified points at local rates, the charges for the conveyance of such goods shall be computed at the appropriate local rate or at the classified rate as reduced by paragraph 13 hereof, whichever shall be the cheaper.

  3. The scheduled rates for the conveyance by the Lake Wakatipu steamer service of the classes of goods specified in paragraph 16 of this regulation, as the said rates are set forth in Regulation 140, paragraphs 57 and 62, shall be reduced by twelve and one-half per centum in each case.

  4. The classes of goods referred to in paragraphs 13, 14, and 15 of this regulation are those set forth in the following list, that is to say,—

Beef, chilled or frozen for export. Mangolds.

Butter. Parsnips.

Calves. Pigs.

Carrots. Pork, frozen for export.

Cattle. Potatoes.

Cheese. Onions.

Fat. Turnips.

Horses. Veal, frozen for export.
