Alterations to the Scales of Charges upon the New Zealand Government Railways.


IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1926, and its amendments, and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, Daniel Giles Sullivan, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations to the General Scale of Charges and to the Goods—Local Rates Scale of Charges made on the 13th day of April, 1939, and published in the Supplement dated the 19th day of April, 1939, to the New Zealand Gazette of the 13th day of April, 1939, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic.


GENERAL SCALE OF CHARGES.

PASSENGERS.

13a. Bulk Travel Vouchers.

By omitting from paragraph 1 the words “other than bus services on suburban routes” and substituting the words “other than bus services on suburban routes, sight-seeing trips, and special tours.”

30. Judges proceeding to Shows, Exhibitors, Attendants, Owners, or Trainers travelling in Charge of Live-stock, Racehorses, or Polo Ponies.

By adding the following new paragraph :—

3A. JOCKEYS TRAVELLING TO AND FROM RACE MEETINGS.

Jockeys travelling to attend race meetings for the purpose of riding thereat, or returning home after having ridden at race meetings, may, on production of a certificate in the following form, together with their membership-cards signifying membership of the New Zealand Jockeys’ Association, be granted tickets at the following fares :—

(a) Single or return tickets available for first-class travel at the appropriate second-class fare (Regulation 2).

(b) Single or return tickets available for second-class travel at three-quarters of the appropriate second-class fare (Regulation 2).

Tickets issued under the provisions of this paragraph will have the same availability as ordinary tickets (Regulation 2).

The minimum charge per passenger will be 2s. 2d.

36. Restrictions on Travel by Specified Trains.

By omitting paragraph 2, and substituting the following :—

  1. Tickets issued under the provisions of the following regulations are not available for travel by—

(a) Night “Limited” Express trains between Wellington and Auckland ;

(b) Railcar services between Wellington and New Plymouth ;

(c) Through Railcar services between Wellington and Wairoa :—

*Subject to such modification as may be authorized by the Department.

  1. Tickets issued under the provisions of Regulations 12, 14, 20, 21, and 22, are not available for travel by the Sunday railcar services between Wellington and Upper Hutt.
