HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the following appointments, promotions,
transfers, and resignations of officers of the New Zealand
Military Forces :—

STAFF.

Major G. Dittmer, M.B.E., M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, relin-
quishes the appointment of Commandant, Northern
Military District School of Instruction, Narrow Neck,
and is seconded for duty with the Special Force. Dated
5th November, 1939.
Major G. H. Clifton, M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes
the appointment of General Staff Officer, 2nd Grade
(Operations and Intelligence), Army Headquarters,
Wellington, and is appointed Commandant, Northern
Military District School of Instruction, Narrow Neck.
Dated 6th November, 1939.
Captain R. C. Queree, Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery,
relinquishes the appointment of Acting District Artillery
Officer, Northern Military District, Auckland, and is
seconded for duty with the Special Force. Dated 5th
November, 1939.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 137
of the 9th November, 1939, relative to Captain G. H. Macan,
N.Z. Staff Corps, is hereby cancelled.

COMMANDS.

Lieutenant-Colonel J. R. Gray, E.D., The Auckland
Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own), relinquishes
command of the 1st Battalion on being seconded for
duty with the Special Force. Dated 27th September,
1939.
Major C. P. Worley, V.D., The Auckland Regiment
(Countess of Ranfurly's Own), is appointed to command
the 1st Battalion temporarily. Dated 28th September,
1939.
Major J. M. Allen, The Hauraki Regiment, relinquishes
command of the 1st Battalion on being seconded for
duty with the Special Force. Dated 27th September,
1939.
Major B. R. Penlington, The Hauraki Regiment, is
appointed to command the 1st Battalion temporarily.
Dated 28th September, 1939.
Captain R. W. Sharp, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, relin-
quishes command of the 4th Field Battery on being
seconded for duty with the Special Force. Dated
8th November, 1939.
Captain C. B. Menzies, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, is
appointed to command the 4th Field Battery tem-
porarily. Dated 9th November, 1939.
Captain H. M. Lewis, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, relin-
quishes command of the 21st Field Battery on being
seconded for duty with the Special Force. Dated
27th September, 1939.
Captain T. H. Bevan, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, is
appointed to command the 21st Field Battery tem-
porarily. Dated 28th September, 1939.
Major E. F. Clayton-Greene, O.B.E., Regiment of N.Z.
Artillery, relinquishes command of the 2nd Medium
Battery and is posted to the 1st Heavy Artillery Group.
Dated 6th November, 1939.
Captain F. M. Yendell, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, is
appointed to command the 2nd Medium Battery tem-
porarily. Dated 7th November, 1939.
Captain E. A. Smith, N.Z. Corps of Signals, relinquishes
command of the Northern District Signal Company
on being seconded for duty with the Special Force.
Dated 27th September, 1939.
Captain G. J. Robertshaw, N.Z. Corps of Signals, is
appointed to command the Northern District Signal
Company temporarily. Dated 28th September, 1939.

N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.

2nd Lieutenant T. H. Agmen-Smith, Reserve of Officers,
The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own),
to be Lieutenant, and is attached to Headquarters,
Northern Military District, Auckland. Dated 1st

N.Z. PERMANENT STAFF.

Lieutenant and Quartermaster G. P. O'Leary is granted
the acting rank of Captain and Quartermaster. Dated
