Declaring Areas to be Closely Populated Localities for the
Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936,
Section 3.

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment
Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport does hereby
declare the areas described in the Schedule hereto to be
closely populated localities for the purposes of the said
section to the intent that a person driving any motor-
vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the
public have access therein, shall be subject to the maximum
speed-limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE.

SITUATED within Rangitikei County—

• All that area at Turakina consisting of the Auckland-
  Wellington via Taranaki Main Highway No. 1 com-
  mencing at a point opposite the New Zealand Govern-
  ment Railway stock-yards and terminating at a point
  5 chains measured along the said main highway in a
  south-easterly direction from the entrance to the
  Turakina School, a distance of approximately 1 mile
  11 chains.

• All that area at Turakina consisting of the Turakina-
  Cliff Road via Marton Main Highway No. 367 com-
  mencing at its junction with the Auckland-Wellington
  via Taranaki Main Highway and terminating at a point
  5 chains measured along the main highway in a north-
  easterly direction from the said junction.

Excluding Streets and Roads from Limitation as to Speed
imposed by the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936,
Section 3.

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment
Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport does hereby
exclude the streets and roads described in the Schedule
hereto from the limitation as to speed imposed by the
said section.

SCHEDULE.

SITUATED within Kohukohu Town District—

Kaitaia-Motukaraka via Broadway Main Highway No.
431 (all that portion commencing at the eastern boundary
of Kohukohu Town District as now constituted and
terminating at a point one mile measured along the
said main highway in a westerly direction from the
said boundary; also all that portion commencing at
the western boundary of Kohukohu Town District
as now constituted and terminating at a point 40 chains
measured along the said main highway in an easterly
direction from the said boundary).

SITUATED within Papatoetoe Town District—

Great South Road (all that portion commencing at the
south-eastern boundary of Papatoetoe Town District
as now constituted and terminating at a point 20 chains
measured along the said main highway in a north-
westcrly direction from the said boundary).

Classification of Road in Waipa County.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him
by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy
Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1932, the Minister of Transport
does hereby approve of the Main Highways Board’s pro-
posed alteration in the classification of the road described
in the Schedule hereto and situated in the Waipa County.

SCHEDULE.

WAIPA COUNTY.

Road classified in Class Three.—Available for the use there-
on of any heavy motor-vehicle (other than a multi-axled
heavy motor-vehicle) which with the load it is carrying weighs
not more than 7 tons, or any multi-axled heavy motor-
vehicle which when carrying a load has an axle weight of
not more than 4½ tons on any one axle.

The Great South Road (all that portion commencing
at the southern boundary of the Ohaupo Town District
and terminating at the southern boundary of the Waipa
County).

The Transport (Rental Vehicles) Notice 1939.

PURSUANT to section 16 of the Transport Licensing
Amendment Act, 1936, 1, Robert Semple, Minister of
Transport, do hereby declare as follows:—

1. This notice may be cited as the Transport (Rental
   Vehicles) Notice 1939.

2. As from the fourteenth day after notification in the
   Gazette of the making hereof, every service of a kind described
   in the Schedule hereto shall be deemed for the purposes of
   the Transport Licensing Act, 1931, to be a passenger-service
   within the meaning of the said Act.

3. Any service of a kind described in the Schedule hereto
   may be referred to as a rental service.

SCHEDULE.

ANY service for the carriage of passengers by means of
motor-vehicles let on hire (otherwise than under a hire-
purchase agreement) to persons who themselves drive the
motor-vehicles or provide drivers therefor.
