Lands in Canterbury Land District for Selection.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 15th November, 1939.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection under the Land Act, 1924, and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to noon on Monday, 11th December, 1939.
The land described in the First Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash or on deferred payments or be selected on renewable lease. The land described in the Second Schedule may be selected on renewable lease only. In each case the lease contains a perpetual right of renewal at revaluation.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., on Tuesday, 12th December, 1939, but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon completion of the examination of applicants and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and in the case of the land described in the Second Schedule the amount of the weighting for improvements.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Paparua County.—Rolleston Survey District.
RURAL Section 12300, Block XV : Area, 20 acres. Capital value, £250.* Deposit on deferred payments, £10. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £7 16s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £5.
- Capital value includes the sum of £10 for improvements, consisting of fencing.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Paparua County.—Rolleston Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for one year. †)
RURAL Sections 12299, 21550, 15932, 18479, 26008, and 32629, Block XV : Area, 167 acres 0 roods 9 perches. Capital value, £1,000*; half-yearly rent, £20. - Capital value includes the sum of £130 for improvements, consisting of fencing, clearing, and plantations.
Weighted with £55 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising wool-shed and yards.
These properties both have a frontage to Newtons Road and are distant about two miles from Sandy Knolls Railway-station, two miles and a half from West Melton School, and sixteen miles from Addington Saleyards. The land is light to medium plains land, all flat and ploughable, and is suitable for sheep-grazing and growing greenfeed, rape, and turnips. The 167-acre block is watered by county races and is subdivided into six paddocks.
The properties are not self-supporting and are only suitable to be worked in with other land in the district.
† After the prescribed deposit has been paid an exemption from the payment of rent for one year on the 167-acre block will be granted, provided that improvements to an equivalent value are effected to the satisfaction of the Land Board.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections will be offered for lease by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Thursday, 21st December, 1939, .at 10.30 o'clock a.m., under the provisions of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928.
