That the security for the payment of the said half-yearly payments of principal and interest and final payment of principal shall take the form of debentures in conformity with the requirements of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and that such debentures when printed shall be executed, sealed, and issued.

That the security for the said loan will be a special rate of one-thirty-seventh of a penny in the pound (£) appropriated and pledged, calculated on the capital value of and levied over the whole of the rateable area in the Waimakariri-Ashley Water-supply District.

It is not proposed to pay any of the first year’s interest or sinking fund out of loan-moneys.
And the foregoing resolution was confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the Board held at 1 p.m. on the 4th day of September, 1939, at the office of the Board at Cust.
We hereby certify that the foregoing special order was duly made and adopted at a special meeting of the Waimakariri-Ashley Water-supply Board held at its office at Cust on the 7th day of August, 1939, and was duly confirmed at the ordinary meeting of the said Board held at its said office on Monday, the 4th day of September, 1939, at 1 p.m., and that due public notice of the special order was published in the Christchurch Press newspaper on the 11th, 18th, and 25th days of August, and the 1st day of September, 1939.

WAIMAKARIRI-ASHLEY WATER-SUPPLY BOARD.
THE WARREN SYPHON LOAN, 1938.
Resolution making Special Rate.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Waimakariri-Ashley Water-supply Board hereby resolves as follows :—
“ That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of one thousand six hundred pounds, authorized to be raised by the Waimakariri-Ashley Water-supply Board under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of constructing a concrete syphon at the River Eyre and for necessary work incidental thereto, the said Waimakariri-Ashley Water-supply Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-thirty-seventh of a penny in the pound (£) upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the whole of the area in the Waimakariri-Ashley Water-supply District and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the loan and be payable on the first day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan being a period of ten years or until the loan is fully paid off.”
We hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of the resolution making special rate passed at a meeting of the above Board held at Cust on the 4th day of September, 1939.

PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1926, the undersigned, Archibald Thomas Richards, Gold-dredge Hand, Barrytown, hereby applies for a license for a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal points ; also description of land traversed—e.g., unalienated Crown land, private land, or otherwise : Block V, Waiwhero Survey District : commencing in Canoe Creek at a point 80 chains east of Canoe Creek Bridge on Greymouth-Westport Main Highway, terminating on Section 2636 (A. T. Richards, freehold), crossing renewable lease (Mrs. McLaggan) as per plan attached.
Length and intended course of race : 100 chains south-westerly.
Points of intake : Watercourse south side Canoe Creek, 80 chains above Westport-Greymouth Main Highway.
Estimated time and cost of construction : Two months; £200.
Mean depth and breadth : 2 ft. deep. 5 ft. wide.
Number of heads to be diverted : Twenty.
Purpose for which water is to be used : Goldmining.
Proposed term of license : Twenty-one years.

MACKENZIE COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Mackenzie County Council hereby resolves as follows :—
“ That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £3,000, authorized to be raised by the Mackenzie County Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of making advances to consumers to enable connections to be made to water-supply and sewerage systems for the Township of Fairlie, the said Mackenzie County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 0.7 pence in the pound, upon the rateable value of all the rateable property of the Fairlie Township Special Rating Area, and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of the loan and be payable annually on the first day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years or until the loan shall have been fully paid off.”

MACKENZIE COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Mackenzie County Council doth hereby amend the resolution passed on the 28th day of January, 1939, making a special rate over the Fairlie Water-supply and Sewerage Special Rating Area to read as follows :—
“ That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £17,000, authorized to be raised by the Mackenzie County Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of providing a high-pressure water-supply and underground drainage for the Township of Fairlie, the said Mackenzie County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1.81 pence in the pound, upon the rateable value of all the rateable property of the Fairlie Township Special Rating Area, and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of the loan and be payable annually on the first day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years or until the loan shall have been fully paid off.”
