Colours prescribed for Figures on Indication Discs in terms
of the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1932.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by
Regulation 13 of the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations,
1932, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby
declare that the colours for the figures on indication discs
for the license year commencing on the 1st day of June, 1939,
shall be as follows:—
For the number “1” (indicating the first quarter), yellow
ochre.
For the number “2” (indicating the second quarter),
cobalt blue.
For the number “3” (indicating the third quarter),
scarlet.
For the number “4” (indicating the fourth quarter),
emerald.

The Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendments.—
Fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers’ Shops within the
Borough of Hawera.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded
to me from the occupiers of butchers’ shops within
the Borough of Hawera pursuant to section 32 of the Shops
and Offices Act, 1921-22:—
And whereas I am satisfied that the signatures to such
requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the
said shops within the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I,
William Edward Parry, acting for the Minister of Labour,
do hereby direct that on and after the 13th day of March,
1939, all the butchers’ shops within the said borough shall
be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at
5 p.m., with the following exceptions:—
(1) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this notice
observe, pursuant to section 14 (2) of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1921-22, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then,
and in such case, the closing-hour on Wednesday for such
shop shall be 5 p.m.
(2) On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas
Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New
Year’s Day the hour of closing shall be 8.30 p.m.
The notice gazetted on the 2nd day of February, 1928,
fixing the closing-hours of butchers’ shops within the Borough
of Hawera, is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming
into operation of this notice.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, as to the
Statutory Closing-day in the Combined District of Taumara-
rurui and Manunui.
NOTICE is hereby given that in exercise of the powers
in this behalf conferred upon me by the Shops and
Offices Act, 1921-22, and in terms of notice in writing duly
received by me from the chairman of the conference of
delegates of all the local authorities of the combined district
of Taumarunui and Manunui, as constituted for the purpose
of that Act, and comprising the Borough of Taumarunui
and the Town District of Manunui, I, William Edward
Parry, acting for the Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint
Wednesday to be the statutory closing-day for shops in the
said combined district of Taumarunui and Manunui.

Notice as to Statutory Closing-days under the Shops and Offices
Act, 1921-22.
WHEREAS the Commissioners of the Borough of Thames
and the County of Matakaoa, and the Mayors or
Chairmen, as the case may be, of the local authorities of
other respective separate districts mentioned in the First
Column of the Schedule hereto, have duly notified me that
the days decided on as the statutory closing-days in their
respective districts, pursuant to the provisions of the Shops
and Offices Act, 1921-22, are the days set opposite their
respective names in the Second Column of the said Schedule.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf
conferred upon me by the said Act, I, William Edward
Parry, acting for the Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint
that the said respective days shall be the statutory closing-
days for shops in the said respective districts on and from the
13th day of March, 1939.
