Dr. Robert Roy Douglas Milligan, M.B., Ch.B. (Univ. of N.Z.),
to be a member of the Advisory Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, vice Professor John Malcolm, resigned, the appointment to take effect as from 1st January, 1939.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, and transfers of Officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—
STAFF.
Colonel I. T. Standish, C.M.G., D.S.O., A.D.C. to the King, Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of Officer Commanding, Central Military District, Wellington. Dated 31st December, 1938.
Colonel E. Puttick, D.S.O., A.D.C., New Zealand Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointments of Adjutant and Quartermaster-General and Second Military Member of the Army Board, and is appointed Officer Commanding, Central Military District, Wellington. Dated 1st January, 1939.
Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Colonel) O. H. Mead, D.S.O., A.D.C., New Zealand Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Officer Commanding, Northern Military District, Auckland, and is appointed Adjutant and Quartermaster-General and Second Military Member of the Army Board and retains the temporary rank of Colonel whilst so employed. Dated 1st January, 1939.
Lieutenant-Colonel N. W. McD. Weir, New Zealand Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of General Staff Officer, Northern Military District, Auckland, is appointed Officer Commanding, Northern Military District, Auckland, and is granted the temporary rank of Colonel whilst so employed. Dated 1st January, 1939.
Major L. Potter, New Zealand Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Commandant, Central Military District School of Instruction, Trentham, is appointed General Staff Officer, Northern Military District, Auckland, and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel whilst so employed. Dated 1st January, 1939.

PURSUANT to the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section 3 of the Surveyors Registration Act, 1928, I, Frank Langstone, Minister of Lands for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint as from the 1st day of January, 1939, the undermentioned persons to be members of the Survey Board constituted by the said Act:—
