Amendments to the Regulations under the Government Railways Act, 1926.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 17th day of December, 1938.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Government Railways Act, 1926, and its amendments, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend as from and including the eighth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-nine, the regulations made under the Government Railways Act, 1926, on the twenty-first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirty, and published in the Gazette of the thirtieth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and thirty, as from time to time amended (hereinafter referred to as “the said regulations”), in the manner following, that is to say:—
(1) By adding to that portion of the First Schedule to the said regulations relating to the Second Division, under the heading “Class 4: Miscellaneous,” the following classification for the Road Services Branch:—

Notwithstanding that the Department is not a party to nor bound by the Arbitration Court awards hereinafter referred to, the rates of pay of the following employees shall be determined by reference to the rates of wages prescribed under the provisions of such award for the time being in force and made by order of the Arbitration Court under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, as is hereinafter specified in each case, that is to say:—

| Leading bus-drivers | A rate 5s. per week in excess of the ordinary rate of wages provided for bus-drivers in the New Zealand Passenger Transport Drivers’ award. |
| Leading service-car drivers | A rate 5s. per week in excess of the ordinary rate of wages provided for service-car drivers in the New Zealand Passenger Transport Drivers’ award. |
| Bus-drivers | The rate of wages provided for bus-drivers in the New Zealand Passenger Transport Drivers’ award. |
| Service-car drivers | The rate of wages provided for service-car drivers in the New Zealand Passenger Transport Drivers’ award. |
| Garage attendants | The rate of wages provided in the New Zealand Motor Mechanics’ award for workers engaged as garage attendants on a weekly basis. |
| Garage assistants | The rates of wages provided in the New Zealand Motor Mechanics’ award for garage assistants. |
