MUSIC TEACHERS’ REGISTRATION BOARD OF NEW ZEALAND.

ELECTION OF MEMBERS.

WHEREAS in terms of the Music Teachers’ Registration Act, 1928, and regulations thereunder, an election was duly notified to be held for the election of eight registered music teachers to be members of the Music Teachers’ Registration Board, and whereas in the Auckland, Canterbury, and Otago Districts no more than the required number were nominated: Now, therefore, it is declared that the following registered music teachers are duly appointed, to hold office until 9th April, 1941:—

Auckland District: Dr. S. K. Phillips, Mr. E. Varley Hudson.

Canterbury District: Dr. J. C. Bradshaw, Mr. A. J. W. Bunz.

Otago District: Mr. Max Scherek, Mr. C. C. A. Martin.

And whereas in the Wellington District three registered teachers were nominated to fill two vacancies, an election was duly held on the 23rd day of November, 1938, votes being recorded as follows:—

Miss Mona Dean, 49; Mr. Gordon Short, 92; Mr. Laurence F. Watkins, 73.

Five votes being rejected as informal.

Now, therefore, it is declared that Mr. Gordon Short and Mr. Laurence F. Watkins are duly appointed to hold office until 9th April, 1941.

RANGIORA COUNTY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

Road Consolidating and Sealing Loan, 1938, £10,000.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Rangiora County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £10,000 authorized to be raised by the Rangiora County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of providing the county’s share of the cost of consolidating and sealing that portion of the Kaiapoi-Waddington via Rangiora Highway as is within the County (known as Skew Bridge-Drain Board and the Oxford Road), and the cost of preparing specifications, raising the loan, and preliminary expenses involved, and meeting engineering supervision expenses, the said Rangiora County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 21/100d. (twenty-one one-hundredths) of a penny in the pound upon the capital value of all rateable property in the whole of the County of Rangiora, and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the said loan, and be payable yearly on the 12th day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten (10) years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

The foregoing resolution was duly carried at the meeting of the Rangiora County Council on the 9th day of December, 1938.

CANTERBURY AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE ACT, 1930.

ELECTION OF ONE MEMBER TO BOARD OF GOVERNORS.—CASUAL VACANCY.

I HEREBY give public notice that the following person has been duly nominated as a candidate for the office of a member of the Board of Governors of the Canterbury Agricultural College, to be elected by such of the members of the Legislative Council as are for the time being resident in the Provincial District of Canterbury, together with such members of the House of Representatives as for the time being represent Electoral Districts wholly or partly within the said Provincial District, and to fill the casual vacancy on such Board arising on the resignation of Mr. H. E. Herring, namely—

Terence Henderson McCombs.

As there is only one person to be elected by such members of the Legislative Council and members of the House of Representatives and as the said Terence Henderson McCombs was the only nomination received, I hereby declare him duly elected.

BOROUGH OF WESTPORT.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Westport Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £6,000 authorized to be raised by the Westport Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of erecting a Town Hall and Municipal Offices and furnishing same, and to purchase Section 1003, Palmerston Street, Westport, adjoining the present Town-hall site; the said Westport Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of three farthings (¾d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property of the Borough of Westport, comprising the whole of the Borough of Westport, and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and payable yearly on the 1st day of November in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years or until the loan is fully paid off.”

We, John Kilkenny and Arthur Taylor, Mayor and Town Clerk respectively, of the Borough of Westport, do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of a resolution passed by the Westport Borough Council at a special meeting held on the 16th day of November, 1938.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following extraordinary resolution was passed by the above-named company on the 28th day of November, 1938, by entry in its minute-book in accordance with section 300 of the Companies Act, 1933.

Resolved as an extraordinary resolution:—

  1. That the company cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business and that it is advisable to wind up and that the company be wound up voluntarily.

  2. That in pursuance of section 235 of the Companies Act, 1933, Mr. W. Brown, of Dunedin, Public Accountant, be and is hereby nominated as liquidator of the company.
