Rangitaiki Land Drainage.—Notice of making and levying
General Rates.

I, FRANK LANGSTONE, Minister of Lands, in the
exercise of powers conferred upon me by the Rangitaiki
Land Drainage Act, 1910, and its amendments, do hereby
make and levy on the unimproved value of all land within
the district constituted under the said Act the general rates
to meet maintenance costs for the period 1st April, 1938,
to 31st March, 1939, as described in the Schedule hereto.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on
the 16th day of December, 1938, together with the special
rates already made and levied.

The rate-book of the district is open for inspection at the
office of the Collector of Rates, Land Drainage Engineer’s
Office, Room 45, Government Buildings, Customs Street
West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at
the office of the Land Drainage Engineer, at Thornton, near
Whakatane, at all times at which those offices are open for
the transaction of public business.

SCHEDULE.
GENERAL RATES.

Class A : On the unimproved value of all lands classified as
Class A by the arbitrators appointed under section 6 of
the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, two pence and
ninety-two one-hundredths of a penny (2·92d.) in the
pound.

Class B : On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class B, one penny and ninety-five one-hundredths of a
penny (1·95d.) in the pound.

Class C : On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class C, ninety-seven one-hundredths of a penny (0·97d.)
in the pound.

Class D : On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class D, thirty-two one-hundredths of a penny (0·32d.)
in the pound.

Education Board of the District of Otago.

ELECTION OF ONE MEMBER FOR THE SOUTH WARD
(EXTRAORDINARY VACANCY).

IN accordance with the Second Schedule to the Education
Act, 1914, it is notified that Mr. John Ivan Gray
Somerville has been duly elected as a member of the Education
Board of the District of Otago for the South Ward.

The number of votes recorded in favour of the respective
candidates were as follows :—

Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby declares
the Native land described in the Schedule hereto to be
subject to Part I of the said Act and to be included in the
Manawatu Development Scheme.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of Native land in the Ikaroa Native Land
Court District situate in Block II, Mount Robinson Survey
District, and known as the Himatangi 2a 5a Block, con-
taining 63 acres 1 rood 37 perches, more or less.

Native Land Court District situate in Block XV, Rangiriri
Survey District, and known as part of Lot 47, Parish of

less, and being the balance of the land in certificate of
title, Vol. 20, folio 217.
