At the Government House at Wellington, this 30th day of November, 1938.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
P URSUANT to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby grant to Kildare Consolidated Gold Mining Company, Limited (a company duly incorporated under the Companies Act, 1933, and having its registered office at Ranfurly) (hereinafter referred to as "the licensee"), a license subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth to obstruct, impound, or divert the waters of the Manuherikia River situated in Run 583, St. Bathans Survey District, in the Land District of Otago, and to take and use therefrom for the purposes hereinafter set forth a stream of water not exceeding one-tenth of a cubic foot per second at any one time.
CONDITIONS.
- IMPLIEd CONDITIONS.
THE conditions directed to be implied in all licenses by the Water-power Regulations, 1934, and the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935, shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this license except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.
- LICENSE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS.
This license is issued under the Water-power Regulations, 1934, and the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935, is subject thereto, and to any regulations made or to be made in amplification or amendment thereof or in substitution therefor.
- UTILIZATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS.
Water shall be used under this license solely for the purpose of generating electricity up to a maximum capacity of 3.25 kilowatts at 115 volts direct current, and shall be taken from the river at the point in Run 583, St. Bathans Survey District, indicated on the plan marked P.W.D. 99839, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works.
- GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS.
The licensee is hereby authorized to utilize and maintain the following works for the purpose of the license; the positions of the said works being indicated on the said plan P.W.D. 99839:--
(a) The headworks at present constructed and in use for mining purposes consisting of a dam and water-race traversing Run 583, Run 584, Run 585, and Run 665, and pipe-lines leading to the power-house situated in Section 36, Block II, St. Bathans Survey District, and giving a static head of approximately 700 ft.
(b) A power-house with all necessary equipment for generating electricity.
(c) Tail-race leading from the power-house to a stream known as Muddy Creek.
- SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.
The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (d) of clause 21-01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935. The generating and transmission voltages shall be approximately 115 volts direct current.
- DURATION OF LICENSE.
Unless sooner determined, this license shall continue in force until the 31st day of March, 1959, or until electrical energy is available from an Electric-power Board or other general public source, whichever is the earlier.
- RENTAL.
For the purpose of assessing the annual rental payable in respect of this license, the licensee may install a suitable maximum-demand indicator to the satisfaction of the Inspecting Engineer of the Public Works Department, and, failing such installation, the rental shall be assessed on the maximum generating capacity of the plant installed. The present plant is rated at 3.25 kilowatts, and falls within the classes described in paragraph (c) of subclause (B) of clause I of Regulation 6 of the Water-power Regulations, 1934.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 30th day of November, 1938.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of all other powers in anyway enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby authorize the Grey River Dredging Company, Limited, a company duly incorporated under the Companies Act, 1933, having its registered office at 39 Johnston Street, Wellington (hereinafter referred to as "the licensee"), to lay, construct, put up, place, and use the electric lines described in the Schedule hereto on the following conditions.
CONDITIONS.
- PURPOSES OF LINES.
THE said lines may be used for lighting, power, and heating purposes.
- LICENSE TO BE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS.
The conditions directed to be implied in all licenses by the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935, shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this license, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.
The license hereby conferred is subject to compliance by the licensee with the Electrical Wiring Regulations, 1935, the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935, and with all regulations made or to be made in amplification or amendment thereof or in substitution therefor.
- SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.
The system of supply shall be in accordance with paragraph (f) of clause 21-01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935. Supply shall be received in bulk from the Public Works Department at a pressure of 11,000 volts in the neighbourhood of Ikamatua—namely, the eastern corner Section Part 1, Square 127, Block XI, Mawheraiti Survey District. The voltage of transmission over the lines hereby authorized shall be approximately 11,000 volts alternating current.
- DURATION OF LICENSE.
Unless sooner determined, this license shall continue in force until the 31st day of March, 1948.
- LOCATION OF LINES.
The licensee shall, if so requested by the Minister of Public Works, and at its own expense, vary or alter the location of the lines hereby authorized if such alteration or variation is considered necessary by the Minister by reason of any deviation of the Inangahua-Greymouth State Highway.
SCHEDULE.
LINES adapted for supply as prescribed in these presents for the transmission of electrical energy commencing at the Public Works Department's substation situated in the eastern corner Section Part 1, Square 127, Block XI, Mawheraiti Survey District, and proceeding thence in a westerly direction generally through part Section 1, across the Reefton railway-line, again through part Section 1 aforesaid and Section 11 to a point in that section approximately forty chains from the commencing point; thence proceeding in a southerly direction for a distance of approximately two miles through Section 11, across a public road, again through Section 11; thence through that land known as the licensee's special claim G. 133, License No. 8649; thence through Section 13, and the licensee's special claim aforesaid to the north-western boundary of Section 168; thence through that section and across a public road to a point on the northern boundary of Section 160, all being situated in Block XI, Mawheraiti Survey District, in the Land District of Westland, the said lines being more particularly delineated by means of a red line drawn on plan P.W.D. 99312, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington: also such further extensions of the lines described above as may be necessary from time to time to give supply to the licensee's gold dredge in that portion of special claim G. 133, License No. 8649, shown bordered green on the said plan P.W.D. 99312.
