Appointments in the Public Service.

Office of the Public Service Commissioners,
Wellington, 5th October, 1938.

THE Public Service Commissioners have made the fol-
lowing appointments in the Public Service :—

Richard Raymond Hodgson,

to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at
Rakaunui, as from the 5th day of September, 1938.

Alexander William McDonald,

to be Registrar of Marriages for the District of Cromwell for
the purposes of the Marriage Act, 1908, and Registrar of
Births and Deaths for the District of Cromwell for the
purposes of the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1924, as
from the 12th day of September, 1938.

Declaring Areas to be Closely Populated Localities for the
Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936,
Section 3.

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment
Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport does hereby declare
the areas described in the Schedule hereto to be closely
populated localities for the purposes of the said section to
the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any
road, street, or other place to which the public have access
therein, shall be subject to the maximum speed-limit of
thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE.

SITUATED within Patea and Waitotara Counties—

All that area at Waitotara consisting of the Auckland-
Wellington via Taranaki Main Highway No. 1 commenc-
ing at a point 16 chains measured along the main highway
in a north-westerly direction from the Waitotara River
Bridge and terminating at a point 10 chains measured
along the said main highway in a south-easterly direction
from the Waitotara River Bridge.

All that area at Waitotara consisting of Station Road
commencing at its junction with the Auckland–Wellington
via Taranaki Main Highway and terminating at a point
32 chains measured along the road in a south-westerly
direction from the said junction.

All that area at Waitotara consisting of Ngutuwera Road
commencing at its junction with the Auckland–Wellington
via Taranaki Main Highway and terminating at a point
3 chains measured along the road in a north-westerly
direction from the entrance to the Waitotara School.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the City of Wellington for the Purposes of Public Buildings of the General Government.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described
in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of public buildings of the General Government: And notice is hereby further
given that the plans of the land so required to be taken are deposited in the Head Office of the Public Works Department
at Wellington, and are there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they
have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within
forty days of the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
