If by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself without reasonable cause from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.

All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

The Board shall have prepared and submitted at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister of Lands as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

The Board shall control the said reserve and any building that may be erected thereon for the purposes of a public hall, and shall also afford settlers and residents of Waikokowai and the surrounding district such facilities for meeting within the said hall as may from time to time be determined by the Board: Provided that the Board shall have power to fix reasonable charges for the use of the said hall.

Declaring an Area in the Otago Land District to be a Sanctuary under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22.
GALWAY, Governor-General.
IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by section six of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a sanctuary for the purposes of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Otago Land District containing by admeasurement 20 acres, more or less, being a Government reserve, land vested in the Otago Harbour Board, Lot 33, Block A 1, Otakou Native Reserve, and enclosed road. Bounded towards the south-west from the Pacific Ocean to the Otago Harbour by part Lots 27 and 28 aforesaid, Block A 1; towards the south-west and north-west to Taiaroa Head by the Otago Harbour; and towards the north-east by the Pacific Ocean. As the same is more particularly shown on the plan marked I.A. 52/23, deposited in the office of the Internal Affairs Department, Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 14th day of September, 1938.

Notifying the proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District for other Land.
GALWAY, Governor-General.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and sixty of the Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor-General, whenever he deems it expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-simple any area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, in exchange for the fee-simple of any other land, and on any such exchange to pay or receive any sum by way of equality of exchange:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto for the land described in the Second Schedule hereto, and the owner of the land described in the Second Schedule has agreed to such exchange:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, doth hereby declare it is his intention to grant in fee-simple the areas of Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land described in the Second Schedule.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.
Description of Land authorized to be exchanged.
ALL that area situated in Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District, containing by admeasurement 3 acres 3 roods 32 perches, more or less, being Lot 2 on Deposited Plan 6625, being part of Block 134, Puketapu Crown Grant District.
Also all that area situated in Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District, containing by admeasurement 2 perches, more or less, being Lot 7 on Deposited Plan 6625, being part of Block 133, Puketapu Crown Grant District.
As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 36/1332/1a, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.
Description of Land to be obtained in Exchange therefor.
ALL that area situated in Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District, containing by admeasurement 3 acres 3 roods, more or less, being Lot 4 on Deposited Plan 6625, being part of Ahuriri Lagoon and part of Block 48, Puketapu Crown Grant District. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan marked L. and S. 36/1332/1a, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured pink.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 21st day of September, 1938.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Waipukurau Borough Council.
GALWAY, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Waipukurau Borough Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—

The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be five years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.

The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.

The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

TURITURI RIVER SCENIC RESERVE.—HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.
SECTION 18, Block XIV, Waipukurau Survey District: Area, 22 acres 3 roods 25 perches, more or less.
