THE following special order made by the Rangitikei County Council on the 28th day of January, 1938, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT, pursuant to the provisions of sections 4 and 5 (c) of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Rangitikei County Council hereby by special order declares Barberry (Berberis Vulgaris) to be a noxious weed within the County of Rangitikei, and that this special order shall come into force and take effect on the 17th day of February, 1938.

Notice of Intention to take Additional Land in Block XIII, Te Mata Survey District, for Broadcasting Purposes (Transmitter-site).

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a broadcasting station—and for the purposes of such public work the additional land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Opapa, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 14 acres 0 roods 29 perches.

Being portion of Pukerowhitu 1b Block.

Situated in Block XIII, Te Mata Survey District.

In the Hawke’s Bay Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 98203, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

As witness my hand at Wellington, this 20th day of January, 1938.

Kaitaia Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying General Rates.

I, FRANK LANGSTONE, Minister of Lands, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area constituted under the said Act a general rate described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District the general rates described in the Second Schedule hereto, such respective rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs for the period from the 1st April, 1937, to the 31st March, 1938.

The said rates, together with the annually recurring special rates already made and levied, will be payable in one sum on the 15th February, 1938, to the Collector of Rates, at the Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 45, 1st Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, at which office the rate-book will be available for inspection. A copy of the rate-book will be available for inspection at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer at Kaitaia.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

TOWN SUBDIVISION.

On the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District, one penny and thirteen-hundredths of a penny (1·13d.), in the pound.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

RURAL SUBDIVISION.

Class A: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, tenpence and twenty-three one-hundredths of a penny (10·23d.), in the pound.

Class B: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B, threepence and fifty-eight one-hundredths of a penny (3·58d.), in the pound.

Class C: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C, one penny and fifty-three one-hundredths of a penny (1·53d.), in the pound.
