Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.

Retail Sale of Motor-spirit.

I HEREBY give notice that applications have been received from—
(1) H. B. Clapham, Limited, for permission to move two petrol pumps from their present positions in the company’s building and install them together with an additional petrol pump outside the company’s new premises adjacent to Dalgety and Coy’s building, Queen Street, Palmerston North.
(2) (a) M. O. Kidd, Ltd., for permission to move three petrol pumps from their present position on the kerbside in Church Street, Opotiki, to a new site ten chains south on the opposite side of Church Street, and
(b) A. J. Anderson, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit at the site proposed to be vacated by M. O. Kidd, Ltd.
(3) Mrs. M. Henry, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit at her store in Kakatahi.
(4) G. L. Wiseman, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit from six petrol pumps at a proposed service station on the Great South Road, Otahuhu.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau in respect of these applications, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 20th September, 1938. All representations must set out clearly the grounds for same and include a statement showing the gallonage throughput of petrol sold and the nature of the business conducted by the person making the representations.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, 7th September, 1938.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 17th October, 1938.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 19th October, 1938, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease and mortgage fees, and deposit on account of weighting for improvements.


SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Bay of Islands County.—Kawakawa Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of rent and mortgage interest for five years.)

SECTION 13, Block VII: Area, 412 acres. Capital value, £150; half-yearly rent, £3.

  • Rental exemption is conditional on improvements to the value of £20 being effected during the concession period in addition to the usual improvements under the Land Act, and the remission of interest under the mortgage is conditional on additional improvements to the value of the interest remitted being effected.

Weighted with £115 for improvements, comprising 50 acres cleared, 30 acres surface sown, 20 acres ploughed, and 140 chains fencing in poor order. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £5, the balance may be secured on mortgage to the State Advances Corporation for a term of ten years with interest at the rate ruling at the date of selection. The quarterly instalments under the mortgage comprising principal and interest combined amount to £3 9s. 4d., reducible to £3 6s. 7d. for prompt payment. Costs of preparation and registration of mortgage amounting to £2 9s. are payable by the selector.

The section is situated on the Opua-Waimate Road, eight miles from Opua Railway-station by metalled road. School is at Oramahoe, four miles distant. Soil is generally poor quality clay resting on sandstone formation. Section comprises some 60 acres of undulating land, the balance being fairly steep and broken. Some 250 acres are in bush and scrub, 112 acres short manuka, fern, gorse, and hakea, and 50 acres cleared; of this 30 acres has been grassed and partly ring-fenced. Suitable for running a few cows and as a rough run for store cattle.

Special Condition.—No bush is to be cut and no timber is to be removed from the property without the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first having been received.

Bay of Islands County.—Kawakawa Parish.

Lot 4 on D.P. 23015, being Allotment 131: Area, 40 acres. Capital value, £50; half-yearly rent, £1.

Weighted with £20 for improvements, comprising 20 chains boundary-fence, 10 acres surface sown, and shelter-belts. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £10, the balance may be paid within one year together with interest at 5 per cent. per annum.

This section, which is suitable for a home for a man with outside employment, is situated on Hupara Road, six miles from Moerewa Post-office and School and comprises undulating to hilly land of which approximately 30 acres are ploughable. Access is by metalled road from Otiria Railway-station which is six miles distant by metalled road. Cream-cart passes gate. Soil is fair clay and pipe-clay on sandstone formation; watered by permanent swampy streams. There is some gorse in evidence.
