IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor-General has, in pursuance of the provisions of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of the Official Appointments and Documents Act, 1919, appointed
John Patterson, of Green Island,
Charles Reginald Pilbrow, of Glenpark, and
William Matthew Beal, of Maori Hill,
to be officers for the purposes of Part II of the first-mentioned Act in respect of the Otago Acclimatization District.

William Westland Templeton, Tuatapere,
as ranger under the said Act for the Southland Acclimatization District; and
Alexander Rintoul Ness, Taiaroa Heads, and
Charles Duncan Clark, Taiaroa Heads,
as rangers under the said Act for the Otago Acclimatization District.

Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Retirements of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—
COMMAND.
The period of command of Captain H. C. Caldwell, Southern Depot, N.Z. Corps of Signals, is extended to 7th July, 1939.
THE AUCKLAND (EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain J. Veitch is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 1. Dated 18th July, 1938.
REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Lieutenant B. A. Paetz, 2nd Artillery Brigade Group, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 20th July, 1938.
With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 46, dated 23rd June, 1938, relative to the promotion of 2nd Lieutenant T. W. Straker, 16th Light Battery, for “15th July, 1938,” substitute “15th July, 1937.”
2nd Lieutenant H. W. Paice ceases to be posted to Brigade Headquarters, 1st Field Brigade, and is posted to the 3rd Field Battery. Dated 12th July, 1938.
THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.
Lieutenant B. A. Paetz, from the Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 8th February, 1936, and is posted to the 1st Cadet Battalion. Dated 20th July, 1938.
THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.
Captain J. L. Hunter, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be Captain, with seniority from 22nd February, 1935, and is posted to the 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 22nd July, 1938.
2nd Lieutenant F. D. Tucker, 2nd Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Hawke’s Bay Regiment. Dated 27th July, 1938.
THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.
Captain H. A. H. Insull, 1st Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Canterbury Regiment. Dated 26th July, 1938.
2nd Lieutenant F. D. Tucker, from the Wellington West Coast Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 15th November, 1935, and is posted to the 3rd Cadet Battalion. Dated 27th July, 1938.
W.O.I. (Bandmaster) Thomas Joseph Collins, to be Hon. Lieutenant (Bandmaster). Dated 1st June, 1938.
