Land Surveyors’ Examination, March, 1938, Australia and New Zealand.
The Survey Board of New Zealand,
Wellington, 27th January, 1938.
IT is hereby notified for general information that the Survey Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors’ Board, will conduct an examination of candidates for registration as surveyors, commencing at 10 a.m. on Monday, 14th March, at Wellington.
Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Monday, 28th February, and that the examination fee must be paid at the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and other particulars may be obtained.
Candidates sitting under Rule VIII (1) will be accepted at this examination, and, with candidates completing former sittings, may sit in other centres where there is a Chief Surveyor’s office.
New candidates for the whole examination are not accepted at the March examinations.

Sale of Unclaimed Property.
Police Department,

IT is hereby notified that unclaimed property in the hands of the Police at the various Police-stations will, if not claimed before Saturday, the 19th February, 1938, be sold thereafter by public auction.
Particulars as to the time and place of sale may be obtained from the Superintendent or Inspector of Police in charge of the District.

Election of Member of the Public Service Superannuation Board.
THE following person has been duly nominated as a candidate for the election of one member of the Public Service Superannuation Board to represent the contributors belonging to the Police Force:—

As the number of persons nominated does not exceed the number of vacancies to be filled, I hereby declare Mr. D. J. Cummings to be duly elected.

CROWN LANDS NOTICE.
Settlement Land in Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 26th January, 1938.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925; and applications will be received at the Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 11 o’clock a.m. on Monday, 28th March, 1938.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 30th March, 1938, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease and mortgage fees, and deposit in reduction of improvement loading.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS SETTLEMENT LAND.
Whakatane County.—Matata Parish.—Rangitaiki Settlement.
ALLOTMENT 244 : Area, 1 rood.* Capital value, £45. Half-yearly rent, £1 2s. 6d.
Weighted with £65 (this amount also includes cost of survey) for improvements, comprising small cottage, hedge, and boundary-fencing. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £10, the balance (£55) may be paid over a period of five years by half-yearly instalments of £6 7s. 1d.
This section is situated on the Edgecumbe-Thornton (left river-bank) Road, one mile from Edgecumbe Post-office, one mile and a half from Edgecumbe Railway-station, and three-quarters of a mile from Edgecumbe School. A level section suitable for residential purposes.
*NOTE.—Area subject to slight amendment on completion of survey.
