Meteorological Observations

1568 THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE. [No. 48

Anticyclonic weather again prevailed until the 27th. On the 28th a depression approached across the Tasman Sea with a rather active centre in the south. Widespread rain was produced, with some heavy falls on the west coast of the South Island and in the far South. Particularly heavy downpours, accompanied by thunder, occurred in the neighbourhood of Rewanui. Mount Egmont also had torrential local falls.

The only storms with much energy occurring during the month were the three cyclonic depressions mentioned above. Conditions were particularly quiet over the South Island.
