Weighted with £31 10s. (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising shanty 10 ft. by 8 ft., 18 chains road-fencing, half-share 20 chains boundary-fencing, 10 chains macrocarpa hedges, ¼ acre loganberries.
The section is situated in Red Hills Road, one mile from Massey School, three miles and a half from Henderson Saleyards, and four miles and a half from Henderson Post-office and Railway-station by metalled road. The property comprises mostly sidling country in bakea, manuka, fern, and rushes, soil being clay and clay loam on sandstone formation; indifferently watered by swampy stream. The land has a good north-easterly aspect, and about 75 per cent. is ploughable; suitable for use in conjunction with adjoining land.

Lands in Taranaki Land District for Selection.
District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 14th June, 1938.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 25th July, 1938.
The land described in the First Schedule may, at the option of the applicants, be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease. The land described in the Second Schedule may be selected on renewable lease only.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, on Wednesday, 27th July, 1938, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken period rent, lease and mortgage fees, deposit in reduction of improvement loading, and proportionate part of insurance premium on buildings.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Ohura County.—Ohura Survey District.
Section 17, Block IX: Area, 189 acres 3 roods 23 perches, Capital value £330*. Deposit on deferred payments, £20: Half-yearly instalments on deferred payments, £10 1s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6 12s.
- Improvements to the value of £142 15s. 1d. comprising part payment of dwelling, felling and grassing, and fencing are included in the capital value.
Weighted with £550 for improvements, comprising five-roomed dwelling, cow-shed, whare, 305 chains fencing, felling and grassing. This sum is payable in cash, or may be left on first mortgage to the State Advances Corporation for a term of twenty-five years with interest thereon at the rate ruling at at date of selection. The costs in connection with the preparation of the mortgage, £3 15s., must be paid immediately an application is declared successful.
A dairying and grazing property situated on the Ohura-Stratford Highway, four miles and a half from Ohura Post-office, School, Saleyards, and Railway-station. The section consists of fair quality bush land, easy to hilly, with about 30 acres ploughable. The whole section has been grassed, but about 90 acres to 100 acres has reverted to fern and scrub with some wineberry. The land is watered by creeks and springs.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Ohura County.—Tangitu and Rangi Survey Districts.
(Exempt from payment of rent for three years.*)
Subdivision 2 of Section 8, Block XI, and Section 9, Block I: Area, 375 acres. Capital value, £180; half-yearly rent, £3 12s.
- After payment of the required deposit an exemption from payment of rent will be allowed for three years, provided improvements to the value of £30 are effected annually during the exemption period.
Weighted with £261 for improvements, comprising dwelling, cow-shed, 110 chains fencing, 30 acres felled and grassed. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £61, the balance may be secured by way of first mortgage to the State Advances Corporation for a term of fifteen years with interest thereon at the rate ruling as at date of selection. The costs in connection with the preparation of the mortgage, £2 15s., must be paid immediately an application is declared successful. A remission of interest for two years will be allowed provided at least an equivalent amount is spent annually on permanent improvements to the satisfaction of the Corporation.
A grazing property situated on the Okoroa Road, two miles from Tuhua Post-office, School, three miles from Tuhua Railway-station, and eight miles from Matiere Saleyards. Access is by metalled road. The soil is light clay loam resting on sandstone and pumice formation; watered by means of springs and creeks. The property comprises hilly to steep broken country and it is badly infested with ragwort.
