Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman, Otago Central Electric-power Board, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

OTAGO CENTRAL ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.
Notice under Section 13 (1), Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.
At a poll of the ratepayers of the Upper Clutha Valley portion of the Otago Central Electric-power District as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 64 of the 16th September, 1937, at page 2172 thereof, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £5,000 taken on the 25th March, 1938, the result of the voting was as follows :—

I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

At a poll of the ratepayers of the Poolburn portion of the Otago Central Electric-power District as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 64 of the 16th September, 1937, at page 2172 thereof, taken on the 25th March, 1938, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £10,000, the result of the voting was as follows :—

Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22.—Fixing the Closing-hours of (1) Tobacconists’ and (2) Hairdressers’ Shops within the Borough of Waipukurau.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of shops in each of the trades of (1) tobacconist and (2) hairdresser within the Borough of Waipukurau, pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
And whereas I, Henry Greathead Rex Mason, acting for the Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the said trades within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct that on and after the 4th day of July, 1938, all the shops in each of the said trades within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays at 9 p.m.
The notice gazetted the 9th January, 1936, fixing the closing-hours of (1) tobacconists’ and (2) hairdressers’ shops in the Borough of Waipukurau, and the notice gazetted the 9th January, 1936, prohibiting the sale in the Borough of Waipukurau of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist shall be and are hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the Borough of Gisborne for Housing Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, and section thirty-two of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1936, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of houses—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Chief Post-office at Gisborne and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a police-station—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Te Kaha and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.
