THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Ashburton Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

ASHBURTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Street Improvement Loan, 1938, £10,000.

IN accordance with the provisions of section 13 (1) of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the whole of the Borough of Ashburton held on 11th May, 1938, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £10,000 for the purpose of permanently sealing various streets throughout the Borough, the following votes were cast :—

Against the proposal .. .. 360
Informal .. .. .. 55

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

RODNEY COUNTY COUNCIL.

Bridge-rate Poll.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the County of Rodney taken on the 11th day of May, 1938, on the proposal to levy a bridge rate of one halfpenny in the pound upon the rateable (unimproved) value of all properties within the County of Rodney, for the purpose of providing funds for the reconstruction of bridges on roads under the jurisdiction of the Rodney County Council, and to be known as the Bridge Rate No. 2:—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 403
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 69
The number of informal votes recorded was .. 13

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

NAPIER BOROUGH COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Napier taken on the 11th day of May, 1938, on the proposal of the Napier Borough Council to borrow the sum of £25,000 (twenty-five thousand pounds) for the purpose of providing an additional reservoir for the storage of water on a site off Enfield Road, including the acquisition of extra land, the construction of the reservoir with all necessary pipes, fittings, and appliances incidental thereto, and all other expenses and necessary works connected therewith :—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 1,295
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 925

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Storm-water Drainage Loan.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Rotorua taken on the 11th day of May, 1938, on the proposal of the Rotorua Borough Council to borrow the sum of £8,600 for the purpose of installing a storm-water drainage scheme in Fenton, Hinemaru, and Eruera Streets :—

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 539
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 354

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Highways Construction Loan (No. 2), 1938, £15,000.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby declare that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Waitaki held on the 11th May, 1938, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £15,000, the result was as follows :—

For the proposal .. .. .. 1,633
Against the proposal .. .. 235
Informal .. .. .. 12

As the total number of valid votes in favour of the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I declare the proposal carried.

COUNTY OF WAITEMATA.

IN pursuance of the provisions of section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Takapuna Riding of the County of Waitemata was taken on the 11th day of May, 1938, on a proposal of the Waitemata County Council to borrow the sum of £7,000 to be a loan to be known as the Takapuna Riding Loan, 1937, for the purpose of reconstructing the Beach Road, secondary main highway kerbing, channelling, fencing, and metalling, and sealing of same and the taking of any necessary land therefor :—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal .. 418
The number of votes recorded against the proposal .. 158
Informal .. .. .. 29

The number of votes for the proposal being the necessary three-fifths required by Statute, I therefore declare the proposal carried.
