HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of Lieutenant-Commander Richard Tudor Roberts, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand Division), being placed on the Retired List, to date 23rd April, 1938, with permission to wear the prescribed uniform.

to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Pahiatua, as from the 9th day of May, 1938.

to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Napier, as from the 9th day of May, 1938.
John Norman Rauch,
to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Cambridge, as from the 10th day of May, 1938.

Appointing Saturday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Borough of Whakatane.
WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Borough of Whakatane was duly taken under the authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, on the 11th day of May, 1938 :
And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Whakatane has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough :
Now, therefore, I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough as from the 6th day of June, 1938.
