THE following results of the elections of trustees of drainage districts have been received from the Returning Officers, and are published in accordance with the provisions of the Land Drainage Act, 1908.

Notice to make Returns of Income under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, and Amendments.
NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of the above Act and the regulations made thereunder, every person and company, whether a taxpayer or not, having derived income within the meaning of the said Act during the year ending 31st March, 1938, from any source or by any means which is made the subject of taxation under the said Act or any amendment thereof is hereby required to make and furnish to me, in the prescribed form, returns of such income on or before the 1st day of June, 1938.
In cases where the Commissioner has agreed to accept returns for twelve months ending at a date subsequent to the 31st March, such returns shall be made within two months after such subsequent date.
And, further, notice is hereby given that such returns shall in all cases be delivered at or forwarded to the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, in the Government Buildings at Wellington, C.I.

- Forms of return may be obtained at any post-office.
SPECIAL NOTE.--Any person failing to furnish a return at the prescribed time is liable to a penalty up to £100.

Anti-aircraft Artillery Firing.
NOTICE is hereby given that anti-craft artillery firing will take place between 14 h. 30 m. and 15 h. 30 m. New Zealand Mean Time on 4th June, 1938.
(1) Position of battery : 262° 1.95 miles from Steeple Rk. Lt. Bn., lat., 41° 19'·7 S.; long., 174° 48'·2 E. (approx.).

(2) Danger area : Enclosed by lines extending 166° to 202°, seven miles from the battery.
Mariners are warned to give the above danger area a wide berth.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Lands in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures.
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 11th May, 1938.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection on optional tenures under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Monday, 23rd May, 1938.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 25th May, 1938, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and deposit on account of improvement loading.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.--FIRST - CLASS LANDS.
Borough of New Lynn.--Hetana Hamlet.
Lot 1, D.P. 10581, of Section 1, Block VIII: Area, 4 acres 1 rood 36 perches. Capital value, £250. Deposit on deferred payments, £10: Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £7 16s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £5.
Weighted with £580 for improvements, comprising house of six rooms, washhouse, laundry, shed, and clearing, grassing and fencing. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £50, the balance of £530 will be payable over twenty-five years and a half by instalments of principal and interest combined amounting to £16 16s.
Property is situated on Titirangi Road and is known as the "Homestead," about three-quarters of a mile from New Lynn Post-office and School, and one mile from New Lynn Railway-station by concrete road. Section comprises undulating to flat land in grass, the soil being of clay nature on sandstone formation. Town water-supply laid on. House has been renovated throughout. Suitable for poultry farming in conjunction with running two cows, or as a suburban house for a man in permanent employment.
