The purchaser of the lease will be required to pay immediately on the fall of the hammer a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, at the rate offered, rent for the broken period between the date of sale and 30th June, 1938, and £1 1s. lease fee.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.
Oamaru Borough.-Town of Oamaru.
Lot 1 (Customhouse Reserve): Area, 17.6 perches. Upset annual rent, £15.
The area is situated close to the railway yards and goods sheds with frontages to Tyne and Harbor Streets.
Abstract of Terms and Conditions of Lease.
- Term of lease twenty-one years from 1st July, 1938, without right of renewal.
- Possession will be given to the purchaser on the date of sale.
- Rent payable half-yearly in advance on the first days of January and July in each year.
- Lessee to be liable for payment of all rates, taxes, and other assessments.
- Lessee to have no right to transfer, sublet, or otherwise dispose of the demised land without the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Dunedin, first had and obtained.
- Lessee to prevent the growth and spread of noxious weeds on the demised land.
- Lessee not to engage in any noxious, noisome, or offensive trade upon the land.
- The outgoing lessee has the right within fourteen days after the date of the auction to remove the buildings and fences erected on the land, but such lessee is prepared to sell such improvements to the purchaser of the lease for an amount to be agreed upon, or, alternatively, fixed by the said Commissioner of Crown Lands.
- No compensation to be claimed by the lessee, nor any to be allowed on account of any improvements effected by the lessee, nor for any other cause.
- Lease to be subject to termination if lessee fails to fulfil any of the conditions of the lease within two months after date on which the same should be fulfilled.

Lands in Otago Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, 27th April, 1938.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, up to 11 o'clock a.m. on Tuesday, 7th June, 1938.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, on Wednesday, 8th June, 1938, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicants will be required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and amount of improvement loading.
NOTE.--These lands are offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessees, whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.-FIRST-CLASS LANDS.
Waitaki County.-Kurow Survey District.
Section 25, Block V: Area, 6 acres 1 rood 19 perches. Capital value, £30; half-yearly rent, 12s. Weighted with £11 5s. (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising fencing.
Section 26, Block V: Area, 5 acres 3 roods 36 perches. Capital value, £30; half-yearly rent, 12s. Weighted with £15 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising fencing.
Section 27*, Block V: Area, 10 acres 0 roods 16 perches. Capital value, £50; half-yearly rent, £1. Weighted with £15 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising fencing.
Section 28*, Block V: Area, 7 acres 2 roods 7 perches. Capital value, £35; half-yearly rent, 14s. Weighted with £11 5s. (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising fencing.
Section 29*, Block V: Area, 14 acres 2 roods 11 perches. Capital value, £60; half-yearly rent, £1 4s. Weighted with £9 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising fencing.
Section 30*, Block V: Area, 23 acres 3 roods 18 perches. Capital value, £75; half-yearly rent, £1 10s. Weighted with £18 15s. (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising fencing.
- Within the boundaries of the Otago Mining District.
The sections are situated from two miles and a half to three miles from Kurow by good metalled road and just below the Waitaki Hydro, comprising practically all flat land. The sections have access to water and the soil is of fair quality resting on shingle formation.

NOTICE is hereby given that WILLIAM JOHN ATTWOOD, Jun., of Gisborne, Labourer, was this day adjudged bankrupt; and I hereby summon a meeting of creditors to be holden at my office on Wednesday, the 4th day of May, 1938, at 2.30 o'clock p.m.
