ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 21st day of April, 1938.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section twenty-four of the Mortgagors and Lessees Rehabilitation Act, 1936, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint Stephen Ingles Goodall, Esquire, of Auckland, to be a member of the Auckland City (No. 1) Adjustment Commission, in lieu of A. M. Goulding, Esquire, resigned, the said Stephen Ingles Goodall, Esquire to be Chairman of such Commission.

Amending Order in Council appointing Principal Authorities for the Election of Members of Harbour Boards.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 12th day of April, 1938.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the ninth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twelfth day of the same month, at page 519, principal authorities for the election of members of Harbour Boards by the electors of combined districts were selected and appointed:
And whereas it is expedient to amend the said Order in Council in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section twenty-two of the Harbours Act, 1923, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby select and appoint the Waipara County Council to be the principal authority for the election of one member of the Lyttelton Harbour Board by the electors of the combined district of the Counties of Cheviot, Amuri, Waipara, Kowai, and Ashley, in place of the Kowai County Council.

Amendment to the Regulations under the Government Railways Acts.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 12th day of April, 1938.

THE RIGHT HON. M. J. SAVAGE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Government Railways Act, 1926, and its amendments, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby amend as from and including the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-eight, the regulations made under the Government Railways Act, 1908, on the twelfth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, and published in the Gazette of the fifteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two (as from time to time amended and as the same are enuring under the Government Railways Act, 1926), in the manner following, that is to say:—
By revoking subparagraph (c) of paragraph (2) of Regulation 143 and substituting in lieu thereof the following:—
“(c) No apprentice shall be eligible for appointment as a tradesman under the provisions of regulation 36 upon completion of his apprenticeship unless he shall have obtained
at least 65 per cent. of the maximum marks at three of the annual examinations referred to in subparagraph (a) of this paragraph: Provided that the General Manager in his discretion may, in respect of any apprentice who fails to obtain such percentage of marks, but who fulfils the requirements of subparagraph (d) of this paragraph, permit such person to continue in the employment of the Department as a casual tradesman, and upon the completion by such person of seven years’ service (including the period served by him as an apprentice) the General Manager may, likewise in his discretion, and provided such person is otherwise eligible for appointment as a tradesman, consider him for appointment as a tradesman in turn with other casual employees who may be eligible for appointment as such.”

Authorizing Robert J. Lee, of Cardrona, Central Otago, Sheep-farmer, to use Water for the Purpose of generating Electricity.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 26th day of April, 1938.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby grant to Robert J. Lee, of Cardrona, Central Otago, Sheep-farmer (hereinafter referred to as "the licensee"), a license subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth to obstruct, impound, or divert the waters of the Cardrona River situated opposite Section 53, Block I, Cardrona Survey District, in the Land District of Otago, and to take and use therefrom for the purposes hereinafter set forth a stream of water not exceeding seven cubic feet per second at any one time.
CONDITIONS.
- IMPLIED CONDITIONS.
The conditions directed to be implied in all licenses by the Water-power Regulations, 1934, shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this license except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof. - LICENSE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS.
This license is issued under the Water-power Regulations, 1934, the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935, and is subject thereto and to any regulations made or to be made in amplification or amendment thereof or in substitution therefor. - UTILIZATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS.
Water shall be used under this license solely for the purpose of generating electricity up to a maximum capacity of 5 kilowatts at 230 volts direct current, and shall be taken from the river at the point opposite Section 53, Block I, Cardrona Survey District, indicated on the plan marked P.W.D. 95682, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works. - GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS.
The licensee is hereby authorized, subject to the conditions hereof, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purposes of this license, all in the Cardrona Survey District, the positions of the said works being indicated on the said plan P.W.D. 95682:—
(a) Headworks consisting of an intake, dam, water-race, and pipe-lines leading through Sections 53 and 35 to the water-wheel and power-house situated in Run 629, and hereinafter referred to, giving a static head of approximately 14 ft.
(b) A power-house with all necessary equipment for generating electricity.
(c) Tail-race leading from the power-house to the said river. - SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.
The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (d) of clause 21-01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935. The generating voltage and the transmission voltage shall be approximately 230 volts direct current. - DURATION OF LICENSE.
Unless sooner determined, this license shall continue in force until the 31st day of March, 1959.
