CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Education Reserve in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 29th March, 1938.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned education reserve is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924, and the Education Reserves Act, 1928; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Monday, 16th May, 1938.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 18th May, 1938, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease-fee, and amount of improvement loading.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—EDUCATION RESERVE.

Bay of Islands County.—Kawakawa Parish.

Lot 4 on D.P. 23015, being Allotment 131 : Area, 40 acres. Capital value, £60 ; half-yearly rent, £1 4s.

Weighted with £35 for improvements, comprising 20 chains boundary-fence, 10 acres surface sown, and shelter-belts. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £20, the balance may be paid within one year together with interest at 5 per cent. per annum.

This section, which is suitable for a home for a man with outside employment, is situated on Hupara Road, six miles from Moerewa Post-office and School and comprises undulating to hilly land of which approximately 30 acres are ploughable. Access is by metalled road from Otiria Railway-station which is six miles distant by metalled road. Cream-cart passes gate. Soil is fair clay and pipe-clay on sandstone formation ; watered by permanent swampy streams. There is some gorse in evidence.

Land in Southland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924 ; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, 10th May, 1938.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Thursday, 12th May, 1938, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Wallace County.—Jacobs River Hundred.

(Exempt from payment of rent for two years.)

SECTION 7, Block XXII : Area, 291 acres 3 roods 9 perches. Capital value, £145 ; half-yearly rent, £2 18s.

Weighted with £97 for improvements, comprising 30 acres of felling and grassing, and 142 chains of fencing. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £7, the balance may be secured on instalment mortgage under the provisions of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1929, for a term of thirty-six years and a half. Half-yearly instalments, £2 14s.

Situated four miles from Fairfax Post-office, Railway-station, School, and Dairy Factory by good metalled road. Thornbury Saleyards are ten miles distant. Approximately 32 acres have been felled and grassed, 60 acres are in virgin bush, 119 acres in milled bush and scrub, balance is burnt milled bush overgrown with bracken fern. Watered by permanent stream. Soil of a light loam. Altitude 350 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. No buildings.

Special Condition.

The milling-timber shall remain the property of the Crown and the lessee shall have no right to fell or remove same without the prior approval of the Commissioner of Crown Lands which may be given on such terms and conditions, including the payment of royalty, as the Commissioner thinks fit.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICES.

Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.

State Forest Service,
Auckland, 29th March, 1938.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Auckland, at 4 o'clock p.m. on Thursday, the 28th April, 1938.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND FOREST - CONSERVATION REGION. — AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

All the milling-timber on that area containing approximately 185 acres, being part of Section 5, Block IX, Hurakia Survey District (State Forest No. 97), about five miles from Waimiha.

The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 425,832, or in board feet 2,907,800, made up as follows :- Species.

Terms of Payment.

A marked cheque for one-ninth of the tendered price, together with £l ls. license fee, must accompany the tender, and the balance be paid by eight equal quarterly instalments, the first of which shall be paid three months after the date of sale.

Terms and Conditions.

  1. All instalment-payments shall be secured by "on demand" promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.
  2. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921-22, the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.
