Special Order made by the Akitio County Council altering Riding Boundaries and adjusting Representation.

Department of Internal Affairs,

Wellington, 29th March, 1938.

THE following special order made by the Akitio County Council is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920, in so far as publication is required by that Act. Pursuant to section 100 of the aforesaid Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921–22, I hereby fix the 20th day of April, 1938, as the date from which the re-division of the county into six ridings as set out in the said special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1920, the Akitio County Council resolves by way of special order, as follows:

  1. That the riding of the county known as the Waihi Riding be subdivided into two divisions, to be called respectively the Waihi North Riding and the Waihi South Riding, which said subdivisions are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The present division of the County of Akitio into five ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into six ridings, to be called respectively Akitio Riding, Rakaunui Riding, Pongaroa Riding, Mataikona Riding, Waihi North Riding, and Waihi South Riding.

  3. The said Akitio County Council shall consist of seven members, who shall be elected as follows:

(a) The electors of Pongaroa Riding shall elect two councillors.

(b) The electors of the Akitio Riding, Rakaunui Riding, Mataikona Riding, Waihi North Riding, and Waihi South Riding shall each elect one councillor.

  1. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after the 1st day of April, 1938.

SCHEDULE.

THE existing Waihi Riding shall be divided by a line commencing on the western boundary of the said riding at a point on the Puketoi Ranges 100 chains N.N.E. of the Summit Trig. Point in the Mount Cerberus Survey District and crossing Section 69, Block I, in a generally easterly direction along the southern boundaries of Sections 64, 17, 54, 6, 5, Block I, and Section 27, Block II, to the Waihi Valley Road; thence in a north-easterly direction along the centre of the said Waihi Valley Road to its junction with the Waipatakaka Road; thence in a south-easterly direction along the centre of the Waipatakaka Road to the south-west corner of Section 29, Block V; thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundary of the said Section 29, Block V, to Section 13c, Block VI; thence south along part of west boundary of Section 13c, along southern boundaries of Sections 13c, 14B, and 16, Block VI, to the Masterton-Weber (No. 63) Highway; along the centre of the said highway to the south-west corner of Section 18, Block VI, and along the southern boundary of the said Section 18, Block VI, to the Kawakawa Road; thence north-east along centre of the Kawakawa Road to south-west corner of Section 2A, Block VI, and along the southern boundaries of Sections 2A and 2B, Block VI, and Sections 9, 10, and 11, Block VII, to the eastern boundary of the present Waihi Riding in the Mount Cerberus Survey District.

I hereby certify that the above description is sufficient to render the boundary capable of identification.

ALL that area of land in the Tokerau Native Land Court District, situated in Blocks II and VI, Waoku Survey District, and known as Te Komiti Lot 197N Block, containing 74 acres 2 roods, more or less, and being all the land in Crown Grant No. 242.

ALL that area of Native land in the Aotea Native Land Court District containing 600 acres 3 roods 30·3 perches, being Subdivision A and part Subdivision D of Sections 1 and 2, Block II, Oeo Survey District, and being all the land in certificate of title, Vol. 91, folio 6.
