Lands reserved under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Scenery Preservation Board, constituted pursuant to the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as "the said Act"), has recommended that the lands described in the Schedule hereto should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation :

Now, therefore, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be scenic reserves under the said Act, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area containing 397 acres 0 roods 12 perches, more or less, being Reserve No. 1184 (parts of Sections 2475, 2476, and 2477), situated in Block XV, Gillespies Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/63A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Also all that area containing 74 acres 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, being Reserve No. 1185 (part Section 2497), situated in Block XVI, Gillespies Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/63B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Also all that area containing by admeasurement 24 acres 2 roods 17 perches, being Reserve No. 1186 (part of Crown land and parts of Section 752), situated in Block IV, Karangarua Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/63C, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Also all that area containing by admeasurement 542 acres 2 roods 15 perches, being Reserve No. 1187 (part of Crown land, part of Section 859, and parts of Section 861), situated in Block IV, Karangarua Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/63C, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Also all that area containing 103 acres 1 rood 12 perches, being Reserve No. 1188 (part of Section 2713 and Crown land), situated in Block XIII, Waiho Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/63D, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 23rd day of March, 1938.

Now, therefore, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be a scenic reserve under the said Act, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District containing by admeasurement 13,100 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 4378 (formerly part of Run 233A), situated in Blocks VI, VII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIV, and XV of the Boyle Survey District, and Blocks II and III of the Skiddaw Survey District, and bounded by lines commencing at a point on the eastern boundary of Reserve 4326 at the confluence of the Lewis and Boyle Rivers; thence north-westerly by that boundary to a point on the Nina River opposite a stream flowing southward into that river approximately 168 chains east of Trig. H (Mount Hatless); thence northerly across the Nina River and by the aforesaid stream to the upper limit of the bush; thence generally north-easterly by the upper limit of the bush to the northern boundary of Run 233A at Lewis Pass; thence southerly along that boundary to the upper limit of the bush; thence by the upper limit of the bush again to that boundary and by that boundary to the track leading from the confluence of the Rivers Lewis and Boyle to Trig. F (Faust); thence south-westerly by that track to the lower edge of the bush and north-westerly by the lower edge of the bush to the left bank of the River Lewis; thence southerly along that bank to the confluence of that river with the River Boyle; and thence westerly across the River Lewis to the point of commencement.

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District containing by admeasurement 7,370 acres, more or less, being Reserve 4379 (formerly part of Run 233A), situated in Blocks I, V, VI, IX, and X of the Skiddaw Survey District, and bounded by lines commencing at a point being the intersection of the eastern boundary of Reserve 4337 with the right bank of the River Doubtful at the lower edge of the bush; thence south-easterly along the lower edge of the bush fronting the Rivers Doubtful and Boyle to the River Hope; thence westerly along the lower edge of the bush on that river to a stream running southwards into that river from Trig. K; thence northerly generally by that stream to the upper limit of the bush, by the upper limit of the bush to a stream running northerly to the eastern boundary of Reserve 4337 aforesaid; thence along that stream and the eastern boundary of Reserve 4337 to the point of commencement, together with and including two separate areas of bush each 10 acres in extent lying between the lower edge of the bush and the River Boyle.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/683A, deposited in the Head office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered yellow.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 23rd day of March, 1938.

Consenting to the Borrowing of Moneys by the Palmerston North Fire Board by Way of Bank Overdraft.

GALWAY, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 23rd day of March, 1938.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Palmerston North Fire Board (hereinafter called "the said local authority"), being desirous of borrowing the sum of seven hundred pounds (Β£700) by way of bank overdraft under the provisions of section thirty-one of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, for the purpose of purchasing a new fire-engine suitably equipped, has complied with the provisions of the Local Government Loans Board Act, 1926 (hereinafter called "the said Act"), and it is expedient that the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council, as required by the said Act, should be given to the borrowing as aforesaid :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section eleven of the said Act, as set out in section twenty-nine of the Finance Act, 1932 (No. 2), and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this
