The Main Highways Act, 1922.—Constitution of Main Highway Districts.

WHEREAS in pursuance of section 8 of the Main High-ways Act, 1922, the Board did, by resolution passed on the 26th day of September, 1923, and published in the Gazette on the 4th day of October, 1923, at page 2553, constitute the highway districts set out in the said resolution including the Nos. 1 and 2 Highway Districts and define the boundaries thereof:

And whereas the boundaries of the said Nos. 1 and 2 Highway Districts have subsequently been re-defined:

And whereas it is expedient that the boundaries of the said Nos. 1 and 2 Highway Districts be further re-defined as hereinafter appears:

Now, therefore, the Board hereby gives notice of the following resolution passed at a meeting held at Wellington on the 16th day of February, 1938: “That as from the 1st day of April, 1938, the boundaries of the Nos. 1 and 2 Highway Districts be the external boundaries of the contiguous areas, comprised within the counties, boroughs, and town and road districts (not forming part of counties) which are set out in the Schedule hereto following the name of each respective highway district”:

SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 1.

ALL that area comprised within the Counties of Mangonui, Hokianga, Bay of Islands, Whangaroa, Hobson, Whangarei, and Otamatea, and the Borough of Dargaville, and the Town Districts (not forming part of a county) of Kaitaia, Kamo, Hikurangi, and Kaikohe.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 2.

All that area comprised within the Counties of Rodney, Waitemata, Eden, Manukau, Franklin, Waikato, Raglan, Waipa, Coromandel, Thames, Hauraki Plains, Ohinemuri, Piako, Matamata, and Otorohanga, and the Boroughs of Birkenhead Northcote, Newmarket, Otahuhu, Pukekohe, Cambridge, Ngaruawahia, Te Awamutu, Te Aroha, Morrinsville, Paeroa, Waihi, Thames, New Lynn, Huntly, and Matamata, and the Town Districts (not forming part of a county) of Warkworth, Helensville, Henderson, Glen Eden, Ellerslie, Howick, Papatoetoe, Manurewa, Papakura, Tuakau, Waiuku, Leamington, Otorohanga, and Putaruru, and the Road Districts (not forming part of a county) of Mount Roskill, Mount Wellington, Panmure Township, and Ostend.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section will be offered for sale for cash by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, State Fire Building, Christchurch, at 2.30 o’clock p.m. on Thursday, 7th April, 1938, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

This property is situated on the main West Coast Road, distant about eight miles from Arthur’s Pass Railway-station. Except for an open area of about three-quarters of an acre along the road frontage, the greater area of the land is steep and rough hillside, mostly covered with manuka scrub, scattered birch bush, and broom.
