Revoking the Declaration of Main Highways and declaring
Public Highways to be Main Highways.

GALWAY, GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 2nd day of
March, 1938.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by section three of the Main Highways
Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in
this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth
hereby declare that on and after the date of publication of
this Order in Council in the Gazette the portions of main
highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease
to be main highways, and doth further declare that the roads
described in the Second Schedule hereto shall be main high-
ways within the meaning and for the purposes of the Main
Highways Act, 1922.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 5.

Napier-Gisborne via Wairoa.—All that portion of main
highway in the Wairoa Borough declared as portion of the
Napier-Gisborne via Wairoa Main Highway, commencing at
the intersection of Carroll Street and Mahia Avenue, and
proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction by way
of the said Mahia Avenue, and terminating at the intersection
of Mahia Avenue and First Street, being a distance of 7 chains,
more or less ; as the same is more particularly delineated
on plan P.W.D. No. 98631, deposited in the office of the Main
Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 9.

Wellington-Auckland via Taranaki.—All that portion of the
Wellington-Auckland via Taranaki Main Highway in the
Otaki Borough and the Horowhenua County, commencing at
the junction of the Wellington-Auckland via Taranaki and
Otaki Beach Main Highways near the south-western boundary
of Moutere 8s No. 2 Block, Block IX, Waitohu Survey
District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly
and north-easterly direction, and terminating opposite
Pukehou 5ks Block, Block IX, Waitohu Survey District,
being a distance of 32 chains, more or less : as the same is
more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. No. 97720,
deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at
Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 17.

Dunedin-Portobello (Low Road).—All that portion of the
Dunedin-Portobello (Low Road) Main Highway in the
Peninsula County described in Order in Council dated 23rd
May, 1927, and published in the Gazette on the 26th May, 1927.

Portobello-Otakou.—All that portion of the Portobello-
Otakou Main Highway in the Peninsula County described in
Order in Council dated 14th January, 1932, and published in
the Gazette on the 21st January, 1932.

Dunedin-Portobello-Otakou.—All that portion of the
Dunedin-Portobello-Otakou Main Highway in the Peninsula
County described in Order in Council dated 10th November,
1937, and published in the Gazette on the 18th November, 1937.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 18.

Queenstown-Invercargill.—All that portion of the Queens-
town-Invercargill Main Highway described as being in the
Southland and Wallace Counties, the Winton Borough, and
the Lumsden Town District in Order in Council dated 30th
November, 1936, and published in the Gazette on the 3rd
December, 1936.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 2.

Pipiroa-Coromandel.—All that road or portion of road in
the Coromandel County commencing at its junction with the
Pipiroa-Coromandel Main Highway at the Coromandel
Post-office, and proceeding thence generally in a north-
easterly direction by way of the Coromandel-Colville Road,
and terminating at the intersection of Te Tiki Road and the
said Coromandel-Colville Road in the Kapanga Township,
being a distance of 12 chains, more or less ; as the same is
more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. No. 98636,
deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wel-
ington, and thereon coloured green.

Coromandel-Mercury Bay.—All that road or portion of road
in the Coromandel County, commencing at its junction with
the Coromandel-Mercury Bay Main Highway opposite the
Mercury Bay Post-office, and proceeding thence generally in a
northerly direction by way of the Whitianga Township Road,
and terminating opposite the south-western corner of the
Soldiers’ Memorial Reserve in the Mercury Bay (Whitianga)
Township, being a distance of 4 chains, more or less ; as the
same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. No. 98637,
deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at
Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 5.

Gisborne-Wairoa via Hangaroa.—All those streets or
portions of streets in the Wairoa Borough, commencing at the
junction with the Gisborne-Wairoa via Hangaroa Main
Highway at the intersection of Carroll Street and Mahia
Avenue, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly
direction by way of the said Carroll Street to its junction with
River Parade, thence easterly by way of River Parade, and
terminating at the junction of River Parade and First Street,
being a distance of 26 chains, more or less ; as the same is more
particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. No. 98631, deposited
in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and
thereon coloured green.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 9.

Wellington-Auckland via Taranaki.—All that road or
portion of road in the Otaki Borough and the Horowhenua
County, commencing at the junction of the Wellington-
Auckland via Taranaki and Otaki Beach Main Highways near
the south-western boundary of Moutere 8s No. 2 Block,
Block IX, Waitohu Survey District, and proceeding thence
generally in a north-easterly direction, and terminating at its
junction with the Wellington-Auckland via Taranaki Main
Highway in Pukehou 5ks Block, Block IX, Waitohu Survey
District, being a distance of 23 chains, more or less ; as the
same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D.
No. 97720, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board
at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 17.

Dunedin-Harrington Point.—All that road or portion of
road in the Peninsula County, commencing at the boundary
of the Peninsula County at the north-eastern end of the bridge
at Anderson’s Bay, and proceeding thence generally in a
north-easterly direction by way of Portobello and Otakou,
and terminating near the north-western corner of Section 48,
Block A 2, Otakou Native Reserve, near Harrington Point,
being a distance of 16 miles 30 chains, more or less ; as the
same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D.
No. 98650, deposited in the office of the Main Highways
Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT NO. 18.

Queenstown-Invercargill.—All that road or portion of road
in the Southland County, the Winton Borough, and the
Lumsden Town District, commencing at its junction with the
Lumsden-Kingston Main Highway in the Lumsden Town
District, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly
direction via Caroline, Dipton East, Limehills, Winton, and
Lorne, and terminating at the northern boundary of the City
of Invercargill, being a distance of 49 miles 37 chains, more
or less ; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan
P.W.D. No. 94170, deposited in the office of the Main
Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green
and red.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 23rd day of
February, 1938.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to the Harbours Act, 1923, His Excellency
the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby license
and permit Joseph Augustus Perano, of Whekenui, Picton
(hereinafter called the “licensee,” which term shall include
his administrators, executors, and assigns unless the context
