CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Land in Gisborne Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

Gisborne, 16th February, 1938.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section
will be offered for sale for cash by public auction
at the District Lands and Survey Office, Gisborne, on
Thursday, 31st March, 1938, at 11.30 o'clock a.m., under the
provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

SCHEDULE.

GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT.--THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Opotiki County.--Urutawa East Survey District.
SECTION 4, Block I : Area, 782 acres. Upset price, £340.*
Weighted with £62 (to be paid in cash) for improvements,
comprising half-share in 124 chains of boundary-fencing.
This section comprises inferior quality grazing land, about
four miles from Motu Village. Access by unformed stock
track from Motu-Opotiki Main Road one mile. Steep hilly
country, originally in heavy bush of which 300 acres has been
cleared and grassed, but has deteriorated. Forest fairly
heavy, comprising tawa, tawero, rimu, rata, maire, &c., with
a dense undergrowth of water fern. Soil is of a light pumiceous
nature resting on clay; well watered. Elevation 800 ft. to
2,000 ft.

  • Improvements included in upset price comprise the area
    of deteriorated grassing.
    Special Condition : The land is suitable only to an adjoining
    owner, and the Crown will not accept any responsibility to
    provide formed access or to improve the existing legal access
    in any way.

Land in Canterbury Land District for Selection on Renewable
Lease.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 16th February, 1938.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land is
open for selection on renewable lease under the Land
Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925 ; and
applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey
Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Friday, 8th
April, 1938.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at
the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on
Tuesday, 12th April, 1938, at 10.30 a.m., but if any applicant
is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land
Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

Applicants are required to produce for inspection when
examined documentary evidence of their financial position,
such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from
managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms,
or from private persons or parents undertaking to give
financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially
should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and
supply guarantees of their own financial position.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the
examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is
required to pay immediately at the conclusion of the ballot
a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period
rent, lease and mortgage fees, deposit in reduction of improvement loading, and proportionate part of insurance on buildings.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT. -- FIRST-CLASS (SETTLEMENT)
LAND.
Waimate County.--Nimrod Survey District.--Timaunga
Settlement.
SECTIONS 5 and 6, Block VIII : Area, 704 acres 1 rood.
Capital value, £2,640*; Half-yearly rent, £66.

Weighted with £960 for improvements, comprising dwelling
and washhouse, lean-to and shearing-shed, granary, implement-shed, garage, two huts, coal and wood shed, pig-stye,
fowlhouse, yards, and cowyard, two dams, water-supply to

house and farm, 322 chains party-boundary and subdivisional
fencing, also garden and orchard, plantation and shelter-
beits. This sum is repayable by cash deposit of £100, the
balance to be secured on instalment mortgage to the State
Advances Corporation for a term of thirty years with interest
at 4½ per cent. reducible to 4¼ per cent.
This property is situated on good metalled unnamed road
two miles and a half from Timaunga School, and twenty-two
miles and a half from Timaru. There is a postal rural delivery
three days weekly, and cream lorry calls. Approximately
200 acres is arable undulating land, with fair to medium soil
resting on clay and shingle formation. Thirty acres comprises
river-flat (stony), and the balance is broken facings, river-bed,
and low-lying areas. Altitude from 650 ft. to 1,200 ft. The
land is suitable as a grazing proposition and is subdivided
into thirteen paddocks.
*The improvements, included in the rental value and
remaining the property of the lessor, comprise 488 chains
of boundary, party-boundary, and subdivisional fencing
valued at £206 0s. 6d.

Land in Otago Land District for Lease by Public Auction.

Dunedin, 16th February, 1938.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section
will be offered for selection on renewable lease by
public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Dunedin, on Thursday, 7th April, 1938, at 2.30 o'clock p.m.,
under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

Note.--This land is offered in terms of section 153 of
the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any
mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessee, whose
rights shall be to the surface soil only.

SCHEDULE.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.--FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Tuapeka County.--Glenkenich Survey District.--Otago
Mining District.
SECTION 68, Block XIII : Area, 34 perches. Upset half-
yearly rent, 12s.
The section is situated adjacent to the Borough of Tapanui,
about a quarter of a mile from the post-office, and comprises
a good building-site.
