THE following notices, received from the Mayor, Timaru Borough Council, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

TIMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Notice of Results of Polls on Proposal to raise Loans.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Timaru taken on the 9th day of February, 1938, on the proposal of the Timaru Borough Council to borrow the sum of £72,300 for the purpose of laying a line of pipes from a dam to be constructed in the Cannington Gorge to the existing reservoirs, and for the purpose of improving the existing reticulation :—
Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was . . 2,003
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 192
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Timaru taken on the 9th day of February, 1938, on the proposal of the Timaru Borough Council to borrow the sum of £12,000 for the purpose of kerbing and channelling streets within the Borough :—

The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 303

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Otahuhu Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

Municipal Block Loan, 1937.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Otahuhu taken on the 2nd day of February, 1938, on the proposal of the Otahuhu Borough Council to borrow the sum of seventeen hundred pounds for purchasing the land adjoining the Council Chambers, being part of Allotment 3 of Section 4, Village of Otahuhu, containing 2 roods and known as “Glasgow House” Block.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was . . 233
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 134
The number of informal votes recorded was . . . . 8
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, as to the Statutory Closing-day in the Combined District of Taumarunui and Manunui.
NOTICE is hereby given that in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and in terms of notice in writing duly received by me from the chairman of the conference of delegates of all the local authorities of the combined district of Taumarunui and Manunui, as constituted for the purpose of that Act, and comprising the Borough of Taumarunui and the Town District of Manunui, I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint Wednesday to be the statutory closing-day for shops in the said combined district of Taumarunui and Manunui.
Dated at Wellington, this 16th day of February, 1938.

Notice as to Statutory Closing-days under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22.
WHEREAS the Commissioners of the Borough of Thames and the County of Matakoaa, and the Mayors or Chairman, as the case may be, of the local authorities of the other respective separate districts mentioned in the First Column of the Schedule hereto, have duly notified me that the days decided on as the statutory closing-days in their respective districts, pursuant to the provisions of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, are the days set opposite their respective names in the Second Column of the said Schedule ;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the said Act, I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint that the said respective days shall be the statutory closing-days for shops in the said respective districts on and from the 7th day of March, 1938.
