THAT in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers it thereunto enabling, the Glen Eden Town Board hereby resolves as follows :—
“Whereas by resolution of the Board duly passed on the 9th day of November, 1936, the Board did make and levy a special rate of seven-tenths of a penny in the pound upon the rateable (unimproved) value of all rateable property in the Glen Eden Town District for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £3,500 authorized to be raised by the Board for the erection of a Town Hall in the Glen Eden Town District : And whereas by a further resolution of the Board passed on the 13th day of December, 1937, the said Board did make and levy a further special rate of seven-hundredths of a penny in the pound on the rateable unimproved value of all rateable property in the said Town District for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a further loan of £350, being ten per centum of the said original loan of £3,500 : And whereas by Order in Council made on the 17th day of November, 1937, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 78 for the 2nd December, 1937, on page 2611, the Board was authorized to raise the said two amounts of £3,500 and £350 as one loan of £3,850 upon the terms and conditions set out in the said Order in Council : And whereas the Board is about to raise the said loan of £3,850 : And whereas the said two special rates of seven-tenths of a penny in the pound and seven-hundredths of a penny in the pound are insufficient to pay in full the interest on the said loan of £3,850 after providing for half-yearly payments in reduction of principal moneys in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the said Order in Council : Now, therefore, the Glen Eden Town Board hereby increases the said special rate of seven-tenths of a penny in the pound to a special rate of one penny and one-tenth of a penny in the pound, and also increases the said special rate of seven-hundredths of a penny in the pound to a special rate of eleven-hundredths of a penny in the pound, such two increased special rates to be levied and raised upon the rateable (unimproved) value of all rateable property in the Glen Eden Town District : And the said Board hereby resolves further that such increased special rates of one penny and one-tenth of a penny in the pound and eleven-hundredths of a penny in the pound shall be annual-recurring rates during the currency of the said loan of £3,850 and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”
