NOTICE is hereby given in pursuance of the Regulations Act, 1936, of the making of the above-entitled regulations under the above-entitled Act.

Serial number: 295/1937.

Date of enactment: 21st day of December, 1937.

Copies can be purchased at the Government Printing and Stationery Office, Lambton Quay, Wellington. Price for each with order 1d., plus postage 1d. extra. Prices for quantities supplied on application. Copies may be ordered by quoting above serial number.

Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Retirements of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—

STAFF AND COMMANDS.

Major A. B. Williams, D.S.O., Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes his present appointments, and on proceeding to Australia on exchange, is seconded. Dated 25th November, 1937.

Captain W. G. Gentry, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes his present appointments, and on proceeding to England to undergo a course of instruction at the Staff College, Camberley, is seconded. Dated 1st December, 1937.

Captain G. M. McCaskill, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Adjutant, 2nd Composite Battalion, in addition to his present appointments. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Captain J. N. Henry, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Adjutant, 2nd Composite Mounted Rifles Regiment, in addition to his present appointments. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Captain K. J. Walker, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Area Officer, Area 10B, and is appointed Adjutant, 3rd Composite Mounted Rifles Regiment. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Captain S. C. V. W. Sugden, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes his present appointments, and is appointed Adjutant, 1st Battalion, The Canterbury Regiment. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Captain A. W. Greville, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointments of Staff Officer-in-Charge (temp.) No. 11 Regimental District and Area Officer, Area 11B, and is appointed Adjutant, 3rd Composite Battalion. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Lieutenant A. P. McCormack, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes his present appointments and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, Area 11. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Lieutenant F. McIntosh, M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes his present appointments and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, Area 10. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Lieutenant R. J. Eyre, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointments of Area Officer, Areas 9A and 9B, and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, Area 9, and Adjutant, The Nelson-Marlborough Mounted Rifles. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Lieutenant F. L. Davis, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Adjutant, The Otago University Medical Company, N.Z.M.C., and Assistant Area Officer, Area 11, in addition to his present appointment. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Lieutenant J. Vincent, D.C.M., M.M., N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Adjutant, 3rd Field Ambulance, in addition to his present appointment. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Lieutenant-Colonel H. B. Maunsell, O.B.E., E.D., The Wellington East Coast Mounted Rifles, relinquishes command of the Regiment, and is seconded to command the 2nd Composite Mounted Rifles Regiment. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Lieutenant-Colonel F. S. Varnham, M.C., E.D., The Taranaki Regiment, relinquishes command of the 1st Battalion, and is seconded to command the 2nd Composite Battalion. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Lieutenant-Colonel R. V. Closey, v.d., The Waikato Regiment, relinquishes command of the 1st Battalion, and is seconded to command the 1st Composite Battalion. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Lieutenant-Colonel J. McPherson, O.B.E., The Otago Regiment, relinquishes command of the 1st Battalion, and is seconded to command the 3rd Composite Battalion. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Lieutenant-Colonel A. J. Nicoll, The Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry, is seconded to command the 3rd Composite Mounted Rifles Regiment. Dated 16th September, 1937.

Lieutenant-Colonel C. J. Pierce, M.C., E.D., The Waikato Mounted Rifles, is seconded to command the 1st Composite Mounted Rifles Regiment. Dated 27th October, 1937.

THE CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY.

Major A. J. Nicoll, to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 16th September, 1937.

THE WAIKATO MOUNTED RIFLES.

Major C. J. Pierce, M.C., E.D., to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 27th October, 1937.

REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Cyril Dudley Bell to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 3rd Field Battery. Dated 29th August, 1937.

Shirley Whitfield Nicholson to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st Field Battery. Dated 30th August, 1937.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants, and are posted to the 1st Battalion :—

Arthur Thomas Begg Green. Dated 27th August, 1937.

David John Bell. Dated 28th August, 1937.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend P. J. O’Neill, Chaplain, 2nd Class (Roman Catholic), is posted to the Retired List with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 29th November, 1937.
