Special Order made by Ashburton County Council merging Longbeach and Wakanui Road Districts.

THE following special order made by the Ashburton County Council merging the Longbeach and Wakanui Road Districts is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920.

SPECIAL ORDER.

The following resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Ashburton County Council on the 5th day of November, 1937, and confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the Council held on the 3rd day of December, 1937:—

“That, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 27 of the Counties Act, 1920, the Ashburton County Council, on the petition of a majority of the ratepayers of the Longbeach Road District and on the petition of a majority of the ratepayers of the Wakanui Road District, resolves by way of special order that on and after the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-eight, the said Longbeach and Wakanui Road Districts shall be merged in the County of Ashburton and the Boards thereof abolished.”

I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly made.

Waikī Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying General Rates.

I, FRANK LANGSTONE, Minister of Lands, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all land within the Pukehina Subdivision of the Waikī Drainage Area constituted under the said Act, the general rates described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land included in the Central Subdivision the general rate described in the Second Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the Kaikokopu Subdivision the general rates described in the Third Schedule hereto, such respective rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance costs for the period 1st April, 1937, to 31st March, 1938.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 16th December, 1937, to the Collector of Rates, Room 45, 1st Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland. The rate-book will be open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, and a copy of the same will be available for inspection at the office of Mr. H. W. Earp, Clerk, Kaituna River Board, Te Puke, at all times those offices are open for the transaction of public business.
