HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :—
COMMANDS AND STAFF.
Colonel A. S. Wilder, D.S.O., M.C., V.D., A.D.C., relinquishes command of the 2nd N.Z. Mounted Rifles Brigade and is posted to the Colonels List. Dated 1st September, 1937.
Colonel C. R. Spragg, V.D., relinquishes command of the 1st N.Z. Mounted Rifles Brigade and is posted to the Colonels List. Dated 1st September, 1937.
Colonel G. R. Mitchell, D.S.O., V.D., relinquishes command of the 3rd N.Z. Mounted Rifles Brigade and is posted to the Colonels List. Dated 1st September, 1937.
Colonel R. F. Gambrill, V.D., relinquishes command of the 2nd N.Z. Infantry Brigade and is posted to the Colonels List. Dated 1st September, 1937.
Colonel S. D. Mason, E.D., relinquishes command of the 3rd N.Z. Infantry Brigade and is posted to the Colonels List. Dated 1st September, 1937.
Colonel N. L. Macky, M.C., A.D.C., relinquishes command of the 1st N.Z. Infantry Brigade and is posted to the Colonels List. Dated 1st September, 1937.
Lieutenant-Colonel R. G. Milligan, D.S.O., V.D., A.D.C., Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes command of the 1st Artillery Brigade Group, is promoted to the rank of Colonel, and is posted to the Colonels List. Dated 1st September, 1937.
Lieutenant-Colonel A. S. B. Smith, E.D., The Otago Mounted Rifles, relinquishes command of the Regiment and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 11. Dated 15th November, 1937.
Major L. R. C. Macfarlane, M.C., V.D., The Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry, relinquishes command of the Regiment and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 10. Dated 18th November, 1937.
Captain C. E. Weir, Regiment of Royal N.Z. Artillery, is appointed Adjutant, 18th Anti-Aircraft Battery. Dated 1st June, 1936.
THE AUCKLAND (EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Lieutenant R. A. McGougan is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 2. Dated 22nd November, 1937.
REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Lieutenant W. H. Thodey, The Hawke’s Bay Regiment, is attached under the provisions of paragraph 141, General Regulations, 1927, and is posted to the 15th Heavy Battery. Dated 23rd November, 1937.
The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants and are posted to the 15th Heavy Battery :—
John Richard Marshall. Dated 26th August, 1937.
George Frederick John Bayley. Dated 27th August, 1937.
CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.
Captain W. R. Dyer, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Captain, with seniority from 11th August, 1937, and is posted to the 1st Field Company. Dated 15th November, 1937.
Lieutenant H. M. Scott, 3rd Field Company, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 10. Dated 8th November, 1937.
THE HAURAKI REGIMENT.
Lieutenant K. A. Powell, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class II (b), Area 2. Dated 15th November, 1937.
THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.
Lieutenant G. B. Massingham, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 5. Dated 12th November, 1937.
THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.
Lieutenant W. H. Thodey, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 7th July, 1933, and is attached to the Regiment of N.Z. Artillery. Dated 23rd November, 1937.
THE TARANAKI REGIMENT.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) C. C. Day, 2nd Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.
THE OTAGO REGIMENT.
Captain R. Fraser, 1st Cadet Battalion, to be Major. Dated 6th September, 1937.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) J. H. Kempthorne, 2nd Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.
THE SOUTHLAND REGIMENT.
Major H. W. Slater, V.D., from the Reserve of Officers, The Hawke’s Bay Regiment, to be Major, with seniority from 6th December, 1930, and is posted to the 1st Cadet Battalion. Dated 19th November, 1937.
Archibald McMaster to be Bandmaster, 1st Battalion, and is granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 18th September, 1937.
2nd Lieutenant (on probation) F. L. Cassidy, 1st Cadet Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 15th November, 1937.
N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.
Miss Jean Constance Woodhead to be Staff Nurse and is transferred to the Reserve List. Dated 12th November, 1937.
RESERVE OF OFFICERS.
N.Z. Chaplains Department.
The Reverend F. J. Tylee, Chaplain, 4th Class (Presbyterian), is posted to the Retired List with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 18th November, 1937.
