Land in Taranaki Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures.
District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 2nd February, 1937.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on optional tenures under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Monday, 22nd February, 1937.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, on Wednesday, 24th February, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease and mortgage fees, and deposit in reduction of improvement loading.
SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Patea County.—Opaku Survey District.
SECTIONS 4, 5, and 12, Block VIII: Area, 1,434 acres 0 roods 6 perches. Capital value, £360. Deposit on deferred payments, £20: Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £11 1s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £7 4s.
Weighted with £1,035 for improvements, comprising four-roomed dwelling, wool-shed, yards, and sheep-dip, approximately 214 chains fencing, felling and grassing. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £85, the balance may be secured by a first mortgage for a term of 36½ years to a discharged soldier and 34½ years to other purchasers. The half-yearly instalment to a discharged soldier will be £28 10s., and to other purchasers £30 17s. 6d.
A sheep- and cattle-grazing property situated on the Lower Moeawatea Road, two miles from the telephone office, twenty-three miles from Waverley School, Railway-station, and Saleyards. Access is by five miles of metalled road, the balance being clay road. The soil is fairly good loam resting on papa and sandstone formation. The property, which is watered by streams, is broken and hilly, and is subdivided into seven paddocks. A little ragwort near the house, but this can easily be eradicated.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, 9th March, 1937.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, on Thursday, 11th March, 1937, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

NOTE.—These lands are offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessee, whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.
SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Marlborough County.—Linkwater Survey District.—Marlborough Mining District.
SECTION 2, Block XI, Section 2, Block XIV, and Section 1, Block XV : Area, 596 acres. Capital value, £200 ; half-yearly rent, £4.
Weighted with £90 for improvements, comprising fencing, cow-byrne, fowl-house, and grassing. This sum may be paid in cash or, after payment of a deposit of £25, the balance (£65) may remain on mortgage to the State Advances Corporation of New Zealand payable over a period of fifteen years by means of quarterly instalments of principal and interest combined with interest at the rate ruling as at date of selection, subject to a rebate of ½ per cent. for payment of the instalments on or before the fourteenth day after the due dates thereof. Costs for the completion of the mortgage, amounting to £2 9s., are payable by the successful applicant.
This property is situated approximately eighteen miles from Blenheim and two miles from Koromiko Railway-station. Surface is easy to steep gullies and badly infested with fern, while tawhinu, gorse, and blackberry are gaining hold. Most of the fencing has been subject to fern-fires and is in bad repair. Maximum carrying capacity at present is 75 dry sheep, but this could be increased by judicious burning, surface-sowing, and additional fencing. The land is, however, not suited as an independent holding and must be worked with other land.
