Existence of Rocks.

(1) Position :—Tiri Tiri Matangi light. Lat., 36° 36′·3 S.; long., 174° 53′·8 E. (approx.).
Position of rocks—(a) 3·13 miles 245½°; (b) 1·24 miles 335° from the above light.
Depths—(a) 18 ft.; (b) dries 2 ft.

(2) Position :—Thompson Point. Lat., 36° 45′·8 S.; long., 175° 03′·6 E. (approx.).
Details—A rock with a least depth of 18 ft. exists in a position 1·99 miles 108° from the above point.

(3) Position :—TarakihI Island. Lat., 36° 47′·3 S.; long., 175°13′·5 E. (approx.).
Position of rocks—(a) 6·9 cables 220°; (b) 6·7 cables 203°; (c) 5·2 cables 179°; (d) 7·5 cables 158° from the southern extremity of Tarakihi Island.
Depths—(a) 21 ft.; (b) 31 ft.; (c) 32 ft.; (d) 35 ft.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 10th November, 1937.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924, and the Education Reserves Act, 1928; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 6th December, 1937.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 8th December, 1937, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease fee, and deposit in reduction of improvement loading.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Waitemata County.—Pukeatua Parish.—Education Endowment.

ALLOTMENT 288: Area, 102 acres 0 roods 13·9 perches. Half-yearly rent, £6 7s. 6d.

Weighted with £35 for improvements, consisting of fencing and a galvanized-iron shed. This sum is payable in cash or by a deposit of £15, and balance at rate of £10 per annum with interest at 5 per cent.

Situated on the main north highway two miles and a half from Albany by metalled road and twelve miles from Birkenhead by good bus service. Post-office, school, and stores are at Albany. Undulating land in fern and scrub; practically all ploughable. The soil is clay on limestone and sandstone formation. Well watered by swampy creeks.

Bay of Islands County.—Kawakawa Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of rent for three years.*)

SECTIONS 4 and 13, Block VIII: Area, 482 acres 1 rood 20 perches. Capital value, £370. Half-yearly rent, £7 8s.

  • Rent exemption is conditional on permanent improvements to the value of £30 being carried out each year during the exemption period, in addition to the improvements ordinarily required under the lease.

Weighted with £480 for improvements, consisting of 400 acres cleared and grassed (now deteriorating), fencing, dwelling of three rooms (unfinished), wool-shed, and yards. This sum is payable in cash or by a deposit of £10, the balance (£470) to be payable over twenty years by instalments of £18 14s. 6d. per half-year.

Situated on the Opua-Waimate Road, four miles from Opua Post-office, School, and Railway-station, and eight miles from Moerewa Dairy Factory and Freezing-works. Access is by metalled road from Opua or by water. The property comprises 150 acres of easy country with the balance rather steep, 400 acres in worn-out pasture, and 82 acres in natural state. Soil is fair to poor clay resting on sandstone; watered by several permanent streams, and subdivided into six paddocks. Land is suitable for sheep, but a small herd of dairy cows could be carried as well.
