Leonard Garfield Goodacre, and
Charles Bruce Rawlins,
to be District Registrars of Apprentices for the purposes of the Apprentices Act, 1923, as from the 14th day of September, 1937.
Charles Henry Long,
to be a Ranger for the purposes of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, to exercise his duties in the Lakes District Acclimatization District, as from the 14th day of September, 1937.
Constable George Henry Webb,
to be Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Court at Riverton for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, as from the 6th day of September, 1937.
Thomas William Adams,
to be an Inspector of Health for the purposes of the Health Act, 1920, and an officer for the purposes of the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, as from the 16th day of September, 1937.
Cyrill Robert Porter,

Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Whakatane.
Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 16th September, 1937.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Borough of Whakatane are hereby defined as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by Order in Council made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the 18th day of August, 1937, and published in Gazette No. 54 of the 19th day of August, 1937.
SCHEDULE.
BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF WHAKATANE.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point at high-water mark on the right bank of the Whakatane River, in line with the northern boundary of Allotment 273, Parish of Waimana; thence in an easterly direction to and along the northern boundary of said Allotment 273; thence in a south-westerly direction generally along the generally western boundary of Small Grazing-run No. 1 to the south-eastern corner of Allotment 274, Waimana Parish; thence by a line bearing 220° 15′ to the old Whakatane–Ohiwa Road; thence by a line bearing 236° to the angle of the Whakatane–Ohiwa Road north of Peg 146; thence southerly across that road; thence along the generally southern side of said road to the Whakatane–Taneatua Road; thence across the last-named road to the north-eastern corner of Allotment 261, Parish of Waimana; thence along the eastern and southern boundaries of Allotment 261 aforesaid, the southern boundary of Allotment 233, Parish of Waimana, and its production across a public road; thence along the eastern, southern, and western boundaries of part Allotment 8, Waimana Parish, on plan No. 15469, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland; thence by the crossing of a public road and the southern side of Bridge Street to the mean high-water mark of the Whakatane River; thence in generally northerly, westerly, again northerly, and easterly directions along the right bank of the said Whakatane River to a point on the northern boundary of Section 9, Block II, Whakatane Survey District (Recreation Reserve), distant 47·33 links from its north-eastern corner; thence along right lines on the following approximate bearings and distances—3° 25′ for 155 ft., 108° 45′ for 1,515 ft., to northern point, Bath Rock; thence 93° 15′ for 850 ft. to north-western corner of the old wharf; thence along old wharf to its north-eastern corner; thence 84° 00′ for 110 ft., 75° 00′ for 315 ft., and 86° 30′ for 570 ft., to north-western corner of new wharf; thence along new wharf to its north-eastern corner; thence 79° 45′ for 460 ft. to rock training-wall; thence along said wall, 66° 45′ for 180 ft., 59° 45′ for 195 ft., 53° 00′ for 135 ft., 46° 50′ for 275 ft., 37° 00′ for 180 ft., to Irakewa Island; along the north-western shore of Irakewa Island to its northernmost point; thence 36° 45′ for 590 ft., along rock training-wall to Flat Rock, around the north-western face of Flat Rock to its northernmost end; thence along rock training-wall 39° 45′ for 230 ft., 31° 30′ for 150 ft., 24° 00′ for 215 ft., to Heads Rock; along western side of said rock 358° 00′ for 60 ft.; thence 20° 30′ for 500 ft., 92° 00′ for 340 ft., to mean high-water mark as defined by plan S.O. 23680; thence in a south-westerly direction generally following the aforesaid mean high-water mark to the point of commencement; save and excepting Allotments 260A, 260B, and Subdivision 1 of Allotment 260C, all of Waimana Parish. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 23/540, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

IT is hereby notified that in pursuance of the regulations for the election of a European member of the Rarotonga Island Council
Mr. David Brown, of Avarua, Trader,
was duly elected as the European member of the Island Council of Rarotonga on the 4th day of August, 1937.
